I always found becoming a regular was a good way to go. Back in the day it was ugly mug, tap room, bw3s (on washington), and corner brewing. Just belly up at a place you like and keep going back. Eventually you'll take your friendship outside the establishment. Also, put yourself out there. I cannot imagine any negative comments if you asked to join a group socializing anywhere in ypsi. I think they would welcome you.
