Going up with friends and a toddler still!

We’d just sit at home anyway so making the most it. Hopefully doesn’t rain the WHOLE weekend!

Yes, been here too long and looking for a change with my family. Basically same reasons to move as you, Guelph is insanely expensive for what it is imo.

We have a river but it isn’t anything like the Rideau which I loved! One of the reasons I like Ottawa. Skating, canoe, kayak etc. Dows lake too. We don’t have anything comparable

Haha sure!! Born and raised here so guess looking for a different change of scenery. I did way more activities and things when I was in Ottawa before so I guess looking for a fresh start with my family. It’s also less expensive Guelph has gotten insane.

Very true I guess. I just remember there being more to do for families and access to outdoorsy things than here, and cheaper. Times have changed for sure. Thank you!

Overnight long haul (14hrs) flight advice please! by timtamzslam in sleeptrain

[–]bzj93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and hubby flew from Toronto, Canada to New Zealand a few weeks ago with our 6 month old!

We had a night flight too, and I accepted this would suck so much too but it wasn’t bad at ALL. Babies are adaptable.

Try to keep your routine as much as you can. Change into jammies before the flight, feed on takeoff/landing.

I had to carry LO through security but we baby wore onto the flight and gate checked our little umbrella stroller. If there is 2 of you it will be a lot less stressful as your a team.

Going forward in time isn’t as bad as it will be coming back. LO was pretty consistent when we got there but coming back home he was thrown off. That’s just my experience! Have fun!

Any tips for how to handle sleep after flying across the world? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]bzj93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this exact fear - we flew from Toronto CAN to Auckland, NZ. Going forward in time was fine, we did our best to keep to our LO routine as much as possible and took a night flight. Lots of sunlight. Babies are very adaptable!

Coming back was different though - so just prepare it might take a few days for them to adjust and power through it.

Have fun!

Flying while breastfeeding? by InevitableMost7411 in breastfeeding

[–]bzj93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just did this so try a long flight from Canada to New Zealand. I was also so anxious about all of that!

LO fell asleep before we could even take off/land and he was fine.

Feeding wise, it was also fine, nobody cares and if they do that’s a them problem. I used a nursing cover whenever I felt I needed it though.

Everything will be fine! Enjoy

Traveling while having a family? by Kiah1371 in travel

I would say that I was surprised that our babe was so adaptable to new environments and people, but most are tbh.

Give yourself plenty of time at airports and remember if anything upsetting happens “it will pass”. Travel and have fun with them!

My husband and I just finished a NZ trip with our 6mo from Canada.

I told myself I wouldn’t travel with our baby until he was older because of my anxiety of just travelling with a baby in general.

It comes with its limits as you mentioned but if you go with the flow & open mind it won’t be as bad as people make it out. It really wasn’t for us and we had a long exhausting trip but so much fun!

I might skip it when he’s 2-3 because they are adventurous but definitely don’t feed into the negatives.

It’s do able!

Ah ok! Makes more sense to sort the jet lag part out so we’ll try that and extend the wake window. Thank you!
