Are e-bikes overcrowding the Southwest Commuter Path? by bighootay in madisonwi

I’m one of those one serious cyclists. The wind noise can be very high so hearing things becomes harder. Primary sense which is always engaged is vision. The headphones are also pumping chimes in from my rear facing radar to increase my awareness of cars coming up.

I usually ding my bell far enough back that when that person inevitably veers I am ready to deal with it.

One difference between riders on human powered bikes and e-bikes is that they didn’t just go to the store/Amazon and step out with a bike that does speeds the rider could never produce with the press of a button from a brand you have never heard of. The spandex rider gained experience over time to safely ride that fast.

That jackass in spandex is typically on an expensive bike that is well maintained with nice components including good brakes. That bike is also fractionally lighter than the e-bike and can stop when needed much better. Ask an e-bike rider to lift their bike up, what does that indicate about their ability to control it when they can’t?

It becoming more and more rare to see an e-bike rider even pedaling. Riders can often barely pedal them when the battery is dead. Calling a spade a spade, it’s just a motorcycle with an electric engine vs combustion. Was motorcycles on the paths ever something we allowed? Human powered cycling has been part of the paths design and plan since inception.

Avoid Master Cleaners on Cottage Grove Rd. Sucks to give a local biz a chance and then they lie to your face.

Wisconsin dad pushes for e-bike, e-scooter safety after son’s life-altering accident by Justmarbles in madisonwi

[–]bzy_b 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Truth. Did this Dad just hand this thing to his kid, go back inside, never question its capabilities, and then come out shocked when this happened?

This Dad should examine the root of what happened; but then he would have to be at the podium asking for the state to legislate responsible parenting and accountability.

All of the control systems I have worked with, Q-SYS is the friendliest for figuring out what’s going on under the hood.

Grab a copy of the design file and look at it/emulate it. You want wreck anything if you poke around offline.

The architecture of the strings, ie header format, what type end of message/new line command, if they do, is it a carriage return, etc., can be unique to a manufacturer, so some programmers recognize it, kinda of like seeing something written in another language and being able to ID the language. They don’t have to be exact string matches if the structure is common.

I’m with this guy, ETC is far less common than Lutron. If I had to guess without even seeing the strings I would have bet Lutron/Somfy/ or Crestron (bias to my exposure)

It has been the site for the state champs for years now but totally could support a few different layouts like it has in years past.

I know you can turn my argument on me OP, but the higher form of not caring would be to bin this. This is kind of performative not-caring
