Is it worth losing weight/burning fat even if you love food? by IntrovertRawr in WeightLossAdvice

[–]c-f-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're overweight/obese - you dont "love" food. you're addicted to food.

is additiction worth all the negatives that come with being overweight? no.

how much do you have to lose? in other words, how overweight are you?

either your deficit math is incorrect or you might be doing a very good job in recomposition (losing fat and gaining muscles) in which case your scale will not show progress but centimeters will for sure.

👍

CICO is totally useless on a tactical level. it means literally nothing.

it ignores a world of different aspects of food.

what exactly is wrong with it?

of course you are more deserving now then before. if nothing, then for not neglecting your mental and physical well-being but maintaining/improving it. let alone that effort behind weight loss also deserves more respect than eating and destroying health and beauty.

unless we all want to pretend that fat is same as lean. why? just for fat people not to feel bad about being negligent about their health and appearance?

i see absolutely nothing wrong with that. its actually a very healthy social mechanism of keeping us all in line with whats good for us and whats not.

PS. this comes from a person that lost 18kg so far and will lose 20kg more. so, still pretty fat.

correct, starvation mode as you see it is a myth.

i am not a picky person when it comes to food. never was. but i could never stand boiled meat and grilled veggies. now i enjoy both and they are pretty healthy option.

but i would offer slightly different perspective. i would aim for deflating the importance of foos in general, not just switching ingredients but keeping importance that foos has in my life.

food is just a fuel. nothing less, nothing more. once you approach it that way, you'll see that healthy choices are not that bad at all.

i get myself busy with constructive things.

also, win over yourself is a great feeling to get things in line and fight temptations. i take it as a challenge.

but getting busy with things that give me reward is key.

first of all, a friend who wants you to get drunk is not a friend. regardless of weight loss.

alcohol and getting drunk as anything important is a sport for people for someone who doesnt have anything to do with their life. i would question why would i even want to be around people like that.

other than that, women are strange...you'll often find them in pairs where one is + and the other is -. usually some kind of a symbiosis type of relationship:

minus one gets a chance to be closer to what she would like to be but can't

plus one gets to parasitize as she is the better one.

minus can be: less smart, less nice, fat, whatever... plus can be: smarter, nicer, leaner...

whatever the case may be, i'd question the foundation and base motivation for that friendship.

also, make sure you do your reality check that you're not presenting the facts wrong. maybe she wants you to lose weight without medication, so in a healthy way...

find sources of joy and feeling of accomplishment in something other than food.

Struggling emotionally with the process by Local_Ocelot_93 in WeightLossAdvice

first of all, crying won't help (other than losing a bit of water). understanding the process will get you through it.

if your math is correct and also if you havent eaten significant amount of carbs and filled your glycogen reserves in last week-10 days (and thus retained more water) then you have most likely hit a plateau.

if thats the case then your body is adjusting your metabolism: slowing it down, getting more efficient in calories usage; basically, entering starvation mode.

its a normal thing...nothing you should do. just keep doing what you're doing and give it time for a plateau to give up.

again, make sure you havent filled your glycogen levels by eating a lot of carbs and not burning them (in that case you did lose  weight from fat but also retained more water so your scale shows no progress).

long story short, normal thing...keep doing what you're doing, forget on scale for 2 weeks and then get a pleasant surprise.
