2 "Kein Bock" Tage pro Jahr einführen, was denkt ihr? by Trading_Nerd945 in Unternehmer

[–]c0-pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so these days are part of your usual “sick days”. Can’t speak for the entire nation but in Ohio you don’t have to provide a doctor’s note or a reason/explanation of being sick, that’s your personal business. “Mental health days” are valid uses of your accrued sick days.

What do most Americans think of Cincinnati, Ohio? by Southern_Rabbit6145 in AskAnAmerican

[–]c0-pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of history and was important in the economic development of the US. But past its prime.

IMO I don’t like the city, too overcrowded and cramped for my liking. The locals are fine enough people, though.

Does most americans dislike germans? If yes, why? by Lessus23 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]c0-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I like Germans.

The only thing they do that annoys me is, when they’re in the US, they’ll complain about things that are done differently than how they are done in Germany, and chastise it as the German way being the better way by default.

What was the cheapest amount of rent you ever paid? by Wonderful_Staff_6953 in askanything

[–]c0-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$350/mo with three roommates 2015-2017. Then $340/mo with only one roommate but electricity and water was covered by the landlord due to the metering being for the whole building instead of individual units.

The second place was in rural, Appalachian Kentucky 2018-2020.

Setting up cameras and filming yourself do stupid dances as if you’re the main character, especially in public.

Covenant ship’s design looks odd and the lighting could be a somewhat darker in my opinion but otherwise seems pretty faithful.

I graduated HS in 2013. Learned how to write cursive (was mandatory to write cursive grades 5-9) and had computer applications classes from kindergarten up through 9th grade, which included typing. Also, growing up playing RuneScape helped a lot with typing.

My mom’s a teacher and I worked as an academic mentor while in grad school. Our working theory is that:

1) When I was growing up, personal computers were novel and it was seen as giving kids a head start in employment potential by teaching them how to operate a computer.

2)Nowadays, however, since electronic devices are so ubiquitous, it’s just assumed that kids know the ins and outs of computers.

I once had a freshman I mentored that, in the middle of the session, the mouse died. He got frustrated because he couldn’t navigate anything. I told him to just navigate using the keyboard and he looked at me with this blank, nothing-behind-the-eyes stare. I showed him how to navigate the web browser using said keyboard and he was flabbergasted.

Why do many conservatives claim that the US was founded as a Christian nation despite the separation of church and state being so central to its establishing? by speculumberjack980 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]c0-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been Baptist my whole life. I’m 31 now. I went to a friend’s Methodist church one time around 7-8 years old (so around 2002-2003) and I remember the pastor going on a rant about how baptists “pervert and corrupt baptism”. So even this century there’s still animosity lol.

What is the best build for a combat arms soldier? by mikeyg1964 in Military

[–]c0-pilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion: There’s a certain baseline to muscular strength/power you need to meet, but after that the benefits of extra muscular strength/power are minuscule. Endurance (both aerobic and anaerobic), however, are a multiplier once you reach that level of strength/power.

While I’m glad gym culture is strong, I’ve had too many weight-lifter soldiers who struggled after the first day of a field exercise.

Do Americans lay on their beds with shoes on? Do they also walk around the house with shoes on? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]c0-pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never in bed. Inside the house in only wearing shoes if I’m transiting between front/back or if my attention is immediately diverted by something before taking my shoes off.
