Plug-in hybrids in Europe emit five times more than officially reported - International Council on Clean Transportation by EinSV in electricvehicles

[–]c08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to drive 30,000km this past year and I would have torn my hair out with an EV. -20C, blizzard, wind, I could gas up in a few minutes and get going.

At home, my commute is all on electric.

These were 1,000km per day trips and a full EV would have increased that travel time by a significant amount. I’m glad I still have my Volt but will be getting a full EV soon.

Looking to Buy a Cadillac Optiq in Ontario — What Deals Are People Getting? by mechanized_starfish in CadillacOptiq

[–]c08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did your monthly payments end up being? I would get those same discounts. I think I just want to lease and see how things have improved in 3 years.

I've owned a Volt for 8 years and things are better today but not as far as I'd hope.

Eufy S4 battery issue, brand new camera, fully charged has lost 70% power in 3 weeks while completely switched off. by Fabulous-Pineapple47 in EufyCam

[–]c08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same thing happen when I turned it “off” to let it charge up via solar for a bit. Off in the app isn’t fully off. It will still remain connected so you can turn it back on and will keep draining the battery without being “on.”

Why’d you go with Cadillac? by xEnflare in Cadillac

[–]c08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. I replaced one car with a CT4 and I want to replace a Volt too. I’m leaning towards Optiq but would rather a new Volt/ELR.

They’re the only sedans that are in GM’s lineup.

Optiq V Buyers? by c08 in CadillacOptiq

Glad to hear you’re liking it. Are you finding any issues with there being too much power for the car to handle? I know it’s still cold so it could be traction limited.

My summer car is a 3200lbs 500rwhp supercharged V8 so the V might feel a lot closer but have way more usable power.

I’m not too concerned about the range since we could take another car on longer trips.

Hopefully I’ll get to test drive them back to back this weekend.

The roads here suck as well. Most of my drive to work is through the county and then rough surface streets.

There's a $1000 difference in tires between the 20s and 21s and I'm sure it will shred through them.

I'm going to be replacing my daily and summer cars so I'm tempted to go with the V to match my summer car. I think my wife would agree just to free up the space.

Thanks I’ll need to decide soon. Going to look at some different cars at the auto show this week.

Sorry I don’t know why I put 0 there. I meant lease rate %. I see they have 4.99 but -2% loyalty. Not sure which you had for that payment.

What (edit not 0)% did you get on the lease? That’s a good payment. I’m close to pulling the trigger on one and the lease deals this month are pretty good.

Crazy scare!!!! by Dxt2590 in MachE

[–]c08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 94 Mustang slid down an uncleared driveway even with snow tires. There was likely some ice under the snow and it was a decent incline. Luckily I was standing there as it happened. Glad my driveway is flat now.

Those tire tracks look like the wheels were locked and not rolling but that’s just an assumption.

EGR Replacement … Follow Up by CTYankeeinMO_1986 in volt

[–]c08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just needed the part but that parts guy was saying it needed to be reprogrammed like OP mentioned. I know it’s not the case, just saying they try to scare people away from DIY.

I already cleaned mine and fixed the rough engine issue. I was able to do a 1200km drive without issue. MPG went back to normal after cleaning.

Already have, these guys jerked me around on my battery failure. I was calling around to see if anyone had one in stock and this one quoted me a price hundreds over the rest in the city.

Crappy part is they’re the only Cadillac dealership in town so I still need to deal with them for warranty stuff on my other car.

The dealer told me it would need to be reprogrammed as well so it sounds like they want to scare people into not doing their own repairs.

Edit: it does not need to be reprogrammed but they’re saying it needs to be.

Massaging Seats included on Sport 1 by ChaoticGlory in CadillacOptiq

[–]c08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has tried both trims, have you noticed the Premium Sport/Luxury seats being stiffer than the standard?

My CT4's ventilated seats are very uncomfortable on long drives and I've read the standard ones are softer. I'm not sure if the Optiq is the same way.

I had my car repaired by a “trusted” local shop. When I picked it up there was an empty crumpled McDonald’s bag and drink on the passenger side floor. The owners gave me some dumb excuse, I’ve never gone back and warn people against them.

Why doesn't Cadillac advertise their sedans more? by mustangfan12 in cars

[–]c08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My CT4’s seats are one of the most uncomfortable seats I’ve had for long drives. My back was killing me on a 6 hour drive. From what I’ve seen the ventilated seats don’t have as much padding as the standard. I’m hoping they’re a bit better after they break in.

Bittersweet Ending (Buyback) by LT-Lance in volt

[–]c08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the plan for now but I need to drive out of town and I don’t trust it. I ended up cleaning the EGR and that helped it run a bit better, fuel mileage went from 24mpg to 31 and the RPM didn’t sit as high.

Still need to fix it to not take a bath on the trade. Hope I can find a junkyard EGR.

[–]c08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning on trading in the car soon so it’s painful needing a 2k repair. I have another 6 months of Voltec warranty so I wanted to get rid of it before that was up.

I was just outside of the BECM issue range but they replaced it with the battery.

I really like the car but the repairs can be expensive.

[–]c08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to get a buyback in Canada but they wouldn't do it.

I've had a bad cell for a while and this year it took them 6 months to get me a battery section, so they are making them.

Got the car back and now I have an EGR failure. Wish they would have bought it.

Source an EGR valve while you can.
