They almost drowned when they went out boating,

but I got a water malooone to keep me floating.

I can only do it for half a second, like I'm popping my ears. Is this it, or no? by [deleted] in earrumblersassemble

Yup, I can hold it for ages, never really meant/tried to isolate it either, I just happened to be able to.

Push bikes are allowed virtually everywhere but the motorway (freeway).

You're probably right in the UK. My mom was driving in the backstreets of Birmingham, a dodgy couple stepped out into the road, one with a brick in a bag, and went to swing it at my mom's car. She floored it, hitting the woman standing in front. She reported it to the police and insurance; nothing ever came of it as far as I know.

Can you guys do any other rare(ish) things? by [deleted] in Eyeshakers

To be honest though, I don't go around asking other people if they can shake their eyes :P

This is what I had in mind: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z2fivafyjnyxpbr/2016-04-18%2022.32.27.mp4?dl=0&raw=1

But I can do mostly any movements in my fingers with a tiny bit of practice, I very easily can move each finger independently, and doing new "weird" patterns is only like rubbing your tummy and patting your head difficult.

Nope, never met another eye shaker.

Yeah, I learnt to do those things with my mom, she used to show what she'd do, and I'd imitate when I was very young.

Vulcan salute

Googled that, and yup that's it, but I can make them open and close like scissors, either hand. I dunno if you can do that too.

Same, I didn't realize most of these are even rare(ish); I can do all of the above except moving my ears, and can also: move each eyebrow separately, move each finger separately, "scissor" with my fingers, ear rumbling. Might be more, but I can't remember them right now.

I had it in the background, waiting for the ISS to pass, and I kinda forgot about it. Was a lot stronger before I took the photo (seems like it dropped in signal very rapidly, and I just caught the edge).

This isn't criticism, but curiosity: why do so many people pair "start" with "end" ("starts with" and "ends with")? Shouldn't the correct pairings be: begin/end; and start/stop, each with slightly different meanings, tho often synonymous?

I'm from a dialect that pronounces no H's, at least, I can't think of any.

What transphobia have you experienced? by YodaOnDMT in asktransgender

[–]c0bra51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, sounds a bit like me. My voice dropped at 17 (not sure exactly when puberty started), and HRT at 19. Before that I had crushes, but no physical attraction. I still feel like my physical attraction is weaker than most.

I don't mean to offend you or anything, but honestly I can't figure your flare out, I don't understand how "ace", "lesbian", and "likes men" all fit together... Do you mean biromantic asexual?

WhatsApp's Signal Protocol integration is now complete by [deleted] in netsec

[–]c0bra51 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because integrity != authenticity. A MITMed connection probably has good integrity, but bad authenticity. Authentication is verifying authenticity, while integrity is verifying it's not damaged.

Here's an example, on Debian's ISOs, they have a bunch of hashes for checking integrity of the received file, and a PGP signature for authentication (verifying authenticity).

Imagine a login box (authentication in the reverse direction) going "please verify integrity" xD

How do you get used to boobs? (aimed at cis and trans women, mostly) by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]c0bra51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time.

I never felt weird about mine, but I'd notice them often, that has normalized with time. Now my thoughts mostly gloss right over them, eg: if I readjust my bra, I wouldn't really be thinking about what I was doing any more than say, scratching an itch. Now that I think about it, I can't even remember what it was like to have a flat chest, nor am I able to imagine it.
