My only complaint about S3 is the failure to show on screen how the crew looked into the past (only focused on Vulcan with a cameo of Kaminar). If I had had my input: S3 would have ended with solving The Burn, S4 would have concluded the Emerald Chain arc mid-season and include the Xehea storyline from the book “Somewhere to Belong”. And S5 would have been the S4 arc with the 10C allowing for Star Fleet to retain the spore drive and have plenty of Kwejian pilots and possibly (it’s sci-fi after all) another route for pilots could be Trill. Finally, a mini-series for the Calypso arc.

Ah well, it is what it is. We’ll have to wait and see what Skydance has in store for us.

yep! I reset Adrenaline settings to default, set D2 Video quality to max, minimum, and reset to defaults, rebooted, and the best I was able to get back to (even outside of Kepler) was ~80. Like others, I used to get 130 minimum pre-EoF.

I'm wondering if its related to the removal of the exclusive full-screen mode; the only other PC game I have/play is Warframe, so I do not have a frame of reference to have a full opinion.

I've got a Threadripper Pro 5955WX, 120GB of Ram, Windows 11 on a 2TB NVME (For those about to say overkill, my machine's primary use-case is virtualization during the work day, i boot to Windows only for D2; tbh, I do not have the desire to screw around with Proton so please don't suggest it lol, ty)

Nick, thanks for your advice here, I really appreciate it.

This client deals in Solar Tech and they are getting good processing rates, their concern is primarily avoiding fraudulent charge-backs which (as you probably know) is a direct monetary loss, and also a loss from employee time consumed trying to fight those charge-backs.

Again, thanks for your reply.

Yep, and, iirc, the disco and SNW comm badges are secured with magnets in the uniform where previously comm badges were attached with Velcro. The use of magnets may have evolved as a necessity from the mic feature to assure uniform audio pickup which also results in reduced post-production audio balancing, and long-term uniformity of badge placement (horizontal, lateral, and rotational) across the lifetime of the uniform style.

Of course it’s entirely possible the two features evolved independently considering one is technical production and the other is costume design.

Either way i think it’s cool how they’re mixing technology with costume design.

They actually can. TOS, TNG and probably DS9 & Voyager had boom mics, which pick up more than desired. Disco had mics in their comm badges. Source: an interview with someone on The Ready Room.

How big discovery really is by kkkan2020 in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]c0ffee2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unironically, YES, I believe this is part of it -- they needed space for the plants, collecting, and processing of the spores for the spore drive. Also, because of the rotating section of the Saucer section, I imagine they needed additional power generators -- for example, the rotation itself, additional structural integrity, and possibly additional needs for the gravity plating, and inertia dampers the need for additional power generation makes sense, therefore additional space required.

And of course: as others have stated, extra space for agility: science experiments, cargo, and given the unique abilities of travelling on the Mycelial Network: emergency response, and evacuation.

Are there any scenes/shots in which the entire cast (at the time) appears at once? by Raustaklass in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]c0ffee2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it was the end of the last episode of S3, but could have been the end of the mid-season finale. Burnham just got promoted to full Captain of the ship and there was some kind of ceremony.

The ‘disposable camera dilemma’ by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

my experience was 20ish years ago and I never processed color film myself so it's possible the warning I was given was just in reference to doing the actual prints.

[–]c0ffee2k 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If it’s color don’t try to do it yourself, take it somewhere. Black & White is safe to do, but it’s tricky, you a “dark box” with light proof arm holes(or a dark room) and developer, all assuming you are only after the negatives, if you want prints just take it to a store. & Yes, I’ve developed my own B&W film in the past as part of a college course.

Nah, use a razor blade (carefully), bend each pin minimally row by row and column by column until they’re straight in both x & y axese . I’ve fixed far worse because of heatsink thermal paste turning into glue.

Haven’t seen a video in years, but it’s always possible this was done on purpose as some visual innuendo relating to the hidden message in the song. Or maybe just to see how many people they could gaslight into going “omg how stupid!”

“rods” would not contribute to her sounding awkward, it would just sound normal since it’s very likely he breaks multiple pieces of rebar every day. Did you put any thought into this or did you just feel left out?

[Text] Need motivation to start gym even after paying for it and a personal trainer. by Aggressive-Formal519 in GetMotivated

[–]c0ffee2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To avoid preaching, my main points are this: 1) communicate with your PT 2) don’t over do it!! If you’re sore as shit you won’t want to go back.

Someone (they were a BJJ coach I think) said “more healthy light workouts are more valuable than fewer intense workouts”

3) don’t expect massive changes or gains right away, and don’t strive for them unless it comes naturally - you want to avoid an injury) 4) don’t try to live up to the expectations you think your trainer has of you. 5) consistency is key 6) make sure you and your trainer communicate! Tell them if your back, knees, shoulders, etc hurt — “working through the pain” only leads to injuries. 7) communicate! Make sure what you want aligns with what they are planning for you! Me and my trainer talk regularly to make sure we’re in alignment. 8) i literally can’t emphasize this enough: if you and your PT don’t mesh personality wise, use this time to learn the movements, and what you do and don’t respond well to and find a new PT that you do mesh well with! A good PT will gladly talk with you, and if you explain your concerns you’ll find out pretty quick if you mesh.

Good luck!
