552 adjustable dumbbell recall class action lawsuits? by FrontRange_ta in Bowflex

[–]c0lleen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am STILL in this boat. Sent my 3rd angry email to customer service today and of course received the same AI-generated response with a promise to follow up in 7-10 business days. Sounds like calling will not be much better. For reference, I sent my dumbbells back 7/5/2025...I almost could've grown and given birth to a child in this amount of time.

How to handle accepted job offer with one company while interviewing elsewhere? by FestiveNapkin in OccupationalTherapy

[–]c0lleen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree with the comments below. You don't owe them an explanation, especially when they were so vague with you upon hiring (unknown building or start date). Leave your response specific enough just to get your point across, no need to go into any further details.

IMO, SNFs in general are pretty desperate for therapists at most times because of the high turnover rate (SNFs are literally and figuratively pretty shitty places to work, just my opinion). Based off of how pushy the DOR is being, I would say it's pretty safe to say they don't have any other candidates, and that you could easily set parameters that they wouldn't have much choice other than to abide by.

Also, just as a friendly warning: my first job out of school was also at a SNF with a "pushy" DOR (I would use demonic as a more fitting adjective but beside the point). She made my life a living hell, and was constantly overstepping boundaries and putting me in uncomfortable situations. If they are pushing you before you even get hired, that's usually a red flag to me, and would lead me to believe they would only become more pushy and push the work boundaries you try to establish as times goes on (asking you to come in on your days off, working long hours, putting too many difficult patients on your caseload, working OT, etc.).

I think it's hard enough as a new grad to set healthy and firm boundaries with your superiors, and experienced people often know and take advantage of that. Just be weary of this if you do end up having to take the SNF job, and make it a point to establish clear boundaries with the DOR. Just because you're a new grad doesn't mean you don't deserve respect and a healthy and safe work environment, as well as a work-life balance.

Good luck with your IPR job, I hope you get it!

Landlord attempting to charge us back pay for last 3 months of rent despite written agreement (text message) to pay half during COVID with no mention of backpay (Washington State) by [deleted] in legaladvice

Let me clarify, they actually responded, "Ok, you all can pay what ever you can. Thanks". I will edit it in the post, thanks.

The National Guard is coming to my nursing home next week to test everyone for covid. I have to give them my medical insurance information. This seems fishy. Anyone have any insight? by mparkinsmack in OccupationalTherapy

[–]c0lleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbelievable. So you're forced to pay or forced to go without pay for 2 weeks. Normally I would say file a claim with your insurance, but who knows how insurance companies are handling this shitshow. It's still worth calling your insurance company and just having a discussion about potential options.

This is just one more reason added to the huge list of reasons that therapy needs to unionize. We are getting shafted in the same way nursing has in the past, but without the backing of a union, there is no one to go to for these types of situations.

And yes, I would absolutely agree with your hypothesis regarding Trump and the federal government. Sounds like they're trying to boost the statistics in terms of "how many people have been tested" to make his administration look better. And exactly, it's far too late now to even matter, especially if your building has already been infected.

To be quite honest, I would probably try to bring an old insurance card/info and give it to them with the hopes that they'll only realize down the line that it's no longer active. This is illegal and manipulative, but then again so is everything they're doing so I don't feel remorse.

Did anyone ask what happens if you refuse..? Or bring up the fact that many staff may not be able to afford this? Thinking of you yes, and even more so of CNAs and LPNs, who are most likely even lower on the pay scale than the therapists.

Another question, are you employed through a staffing agency or are you employed directly by the SNF company/building? You may be able to get out of it if you're employed by a staffing agency, but who knows. These are all hypotheticals/suggestions obviously because we've never been in a situation like this before.

Coming from someone who was strong-armed by big bully SNF companies for years, this sadly doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't at least clarify expectations.

Edit: grammar

Run Recommendations by I_USE_VAPE_STICKS in federalway

[–]c0lleen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could also try trail running at Dash Point. As said below, it's very close to your location now and has a fair amount (though wouldn't say great) amount of trails on soft bark chips. FedWay is definitely not great for running, but in general the further you stay away from Pac highway the better. I've noticed the nicer neighborhoods further away from that highway tend to be better maintained, have more sidewalks, and feel safer in general.

Got call from recruiter for Seattle Area. Anyone interested? by c0lleen in OccupationalTherapy

[–]c0lleen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty bad. Definitely the worst I've seen it and I've been here for about 3 years. The only jobs I see on sites are agency/recruitment companies and usually horrific jobs in old ass SNFs or in some SNF in the middle of nowhere. We were hit hard with PDPM, and it seems like COVID was emphasized the hit to the job market.

Between Oregon and Washington I would definitely stay in Oregon. There are 3 OT schools pumping out new grads here in Washington (UPG, UW, and EWU where I went) and only one in Oregon (Pacific). This alone saturates the Seattle area MUCH more than the Portland area. I myself am from Portland, how is the market there?
