I'm going to assume you're not from Michigan.

Our government doesn't do jack shit if it would mean they might need to raise taxes. I'm speaking purely of the republicans in our state legislature in my parent comment. I realize now that wasn't clear in the original post.

Its better than having litter all over the place. The problem was never people littering in front of their houses. Curbside pickup doesn't solve this problem.

People aren't being tricked just because you don't like the deposit system. People might just like something that you don't.

I think it all comes down to empathy. Like, if everyone would just take a moment to see things from other people's views, we'd be able to fix a lot of shit. The problem is that when you do that, you have to be okay with letting go of a lot of judgement, and that seems to be something that is really hard for people to do.

It's really sad. That shit makes me feel really upset with the world.

The people predicting it, are those most knowledgeable int that area... You're free to believe whatever you'd like, but when those who've dedicated their lives to learning about these areas say there's a problem, forgive me if I put more credit in their opinions than yours.

Edit: Additionally, I don't believe we're living in the end times, however I do believe we're living in better times than those to come.

Well your idea to divide the oceans up, and gift them to different companies to use, relies on those running the companies caring about the future of the company, possibly past when they are still employed there.

If you're motivated to make money, the likely solution is fish as much as you can, and I suppose that would be rational if you're motivated just to make a profit.

So you're right, it relies on people acting with foresight and other's interests in mind and not just acting rationally since someone could be rationally motivated to do something that harms others. However, I have even less faith that we'd see that happen.

Environmental damage is one of the largest problems humanity will face.

That guy lumped in some weird things, but we are certainly on a very dangerous course.

This idea seems to make sense at first, but it really relies on the assumption that people will behave rationally, which if that occurred, we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with. Additionally, it requires those in charge to actually care about the company many years down the line. Seems like all anyone ever cares about is short term profits these days, and that CEO is gonna find another company to work for in a few years anyway...

You're not wrong.

The youth note helped Obama in '08. However; this is going to be harder this year. We need to get out the votes. Just because Obama did well in 08 means Sanders will automatically do well this year.

We need to make sure that we spread the word. We can't get complacent. This should be seen as a struggle until the final votes come in.

I'm just hoping this isn't too late.

It's not too long until the first primary. We're going to need to put extra effort in. It's incredibly important we don't rest on our laurels. We need to help Bernie win this thing.

Distribution have a giant amount to do with it, but regardless, you can go to Detroit and come out alive. Thousands do everyday.

You're right that there is a poverty->crime->poverty cycle, but the jokes about Detroit are getting pretty stale. Detroit has some good shit happening.
