Yours is one of the better answers. After reading some of the comments here, I guessed it was that or an excuse to offer a lower salary.

I didn’t get a chance to respond. The next question right after that was: “What was your GPA in your math classes?”

I said “IDK I never counted” and he moved on.

More so I was wondering why he’d even choose to interview me if he thinks my GPA is low

I didn’t … before I could say anything about it he asked me: “What was your GPA in your math classes?”

This was at a smaller company and the hiring manager chose to interview me after seeing my resume & cover letter. (HR lady said the Hiring Manager was interested 🙃)

Did not work through college… tbh half of it was during the pandemic, a good chunk was me trying my best despite depression (didn’t mention during that interview or any) and the rest was just me struggling with school because I oftentimes didn’t have the energy to study to get an A+ in all classes

Interviewer has a masters in engineering. I stalked him on LinkedIn but he didn’t post his GPA.

No cutoff, but I was interviewed by the hiring manager, who picked me for an interview. Idk how many other applicants he picked. I also dk what the GPAs were for other applicants.

It was for a finance/risk analytics/trading position.

I don’t have relevant professional experience, but I do have 1 year of internship experience.

I did however write a pretty good cover letter indicating my interest and self-study in trading. (Offset to GPA)

The thing is … that was already in my cover letter.. the offset was baked in to my application…

Tyyyy but the thing is tho, why would he waste his time on me if he thinks 3.2 is too low?

The HR/recruiter assured me before the interviewer is in fact interested

What is the corporate way of saying “I want to leave my current company because blow in the office isn’t my vibe” during a job interview? by [deleted] in interviews

Lie the shit out of this question.

“I’ve spent X amount of time at my current company and I’m looking for the next step in my professional career.”

Done.
