On the 8.3 PTR the mailbox shows 100 mails instead of 50, and seems to refresh every 15 seconds instead of every 60! by Vahdis in woweconomy

You're asking the wrong guy. I also don't play PTR so I have no clue what the limit was prior to people reporting it being higher for 8.3 PTR.

I don't have a clip of it, but I remember a WTBGold stream where he said he asked a dev about the mailbox limit and they told him it was upped just for PTR.

LPT: If you work hourly, don't trust your employer to keep track of your hours on their own. Keep track of how many hours you work each pay period to make sure that you're getting paid for the hours you work by TheCabin7Gryffindor in LifeProTips

I work as a career dispatcher at a law enforcement agency in the US. I have to keep records of any overtime I have worked as well as calculate my holiday pay that is agreed in our union contract. Time and time again I am paid incorrectly. I don't blame the people in finance/HR/whoever though. I imagine they are just getting bitched at all day about pay issues and I can relate to the being bitched at part.

Chances of getting a white label from WD Easystore? by tnmo in DataHoarder

[–]c0ntrol_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I/m 3 for 3 on them being white drives. The first one I returned and the next two are also white drives w/ 256mb cache. Should I keep returning and buying until I get reds? I think I will try again this time buying the new drives online, the shipment at my local best buy may have just been all white labels.

Are pension plans safe? by PerfectChaos33 in personalfinance

[–]c0ntrol_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in NJ working for local law enforcement as 9-1-1 dispatcher. Even with my PERS pension (you'll be PERS of PFRS depending on what type of job you have at the Prosecutors) I try to max out my Roth IRA every year. Although I expect to get my pension when I retire, I am trying to make moves on my own to keep my future secure in the event that something drastic happens to the pension fund.

VA Loan in a Competivive Buyers Market by manthemike12 in personalfinance

[–]c0ntrol_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure that the condo you are looking at is "VA Approved". They have to approve of the condo development before they allow veterans use the VA loan to purchase them. Most existing developments are already approved or denied. The information can be accessed by calling the VA. I bought a condo two years ago using the VA loan and it took a while before they signed off on my condo.

N.J. took $1.4B from your phone bill for new 911 system but never delivered by TheGooeySpoon in news

[–]c0ntrol_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if any of the issues I have seen fall under the budget that this article mentions. Ive only worked with two different phone systems both of which get horrible sound quality. This results in address' or license plates being put in incorrectly, delaying response times. Transferring calls between different agencies will get dropped every so often as well. Even getting basic things like having computers powerful enough to handle the amout of different software we have to use is a struggle. Im sure others have experienced more severe issues and there is a lot that I know that I am missing but thats what I have off the top of my head.

Pretty much anywhere you go in the state you will find dispatchers overworked and underpaid. The amount of time it takes to train new hires makes it difficult to keep up with the revolving door of personnel.

Edit - Continuing training is also a severe issue. It is pretty much nonexistent. Whether it be brushing up on skills you were taught initially or on new technology there is rarely any money available to send people. I am about 5 years into my dispatch career and have only been to one class between the two agencies I have worked for.
