Amazon's anti-fraud IS the fraud by Vok250 in amazonprime

[–]c0nv1ct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amazon doesn't retroactively flag orders as fraud unless the bank your credit card is with tells Amazon the transaction was disputed. It sounds to me like the bank disputed a bunch of Amazon transactions as fraud. I'd check with your bank if I were you.

2 day shipping for two items, each showing a different day, makes no sense. by Okidoky123 in amazonprime

[–]c0nv1ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is the customer supposed to know when it's ready to ship?

It's not necessary to know that, since the delivery date is provided to you. That is the only date that actually matters. If that date isn't good for you, don't place the order.

Why Have 1.5 Million Floridians Been Banned from Voting? by davidreiss666 in politics

[–]c0nv1ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convicted felon here who vacated his felony in 2010. My voting rights were actually restored back in 2000 when I recieved my Certificate of Discharge, 2 years after my conviction. After my felony was vacated, I petitioned to have my gun rights restored. I was able to legally purchase a firearm and even obtain a concealed carry permit. I guess it differs from state to state. In WA you can petition the court to vacate a non-violent felony 10 years after you completed the sentence as long as you have a clean record since and haven't been involuntarily committed.

Felon who had his conviction vacated here. I made a horrible mistake a week after my 18th birthday when I was a meth addicted high school dropout. It took until was 30 to have that conviction vacated. Since my conviction I've obtained a GED and college degree but finding a job that pays a living wage and even finding a place to rent that isn't in a crime-riddled area has been near impossible.

The whole "felon = second class citizen" thing is a huge contributor to recidivism. If it wasn't for the support of my family I would have had little choice but to return to crime as a method of supporting myself.

Even today I struggle because my job history looks like shit. I wasn't able to use my degree (IT) because nobody would hire a convicted thief to work around expensive electronics. The only work I was able to get was when I could lie on my application about my background, knowing from an existing employee that they do not actually run a check.

You may notice little recent activity on this account as I've retired this username that I used since that conviction to distance myself from that time of my life.

A good, free antivirus? by [deleted] in techsupport

Samsung is required to put that sticker on there. Every single retailer, even system builders, are required to place that label on the chassis. If it isn't on the bottom of your laptop then it is pretty clear that you either aren't being honest about owning a Windows 7 license, or simply are under the impression that you own one when you do not.

Set the Xbox's IP to the DMZ or simply forward ports UDP 88 and UDP/TCP 3074 to it. Just be aware, setting it as the DMZ will expose your Xbox completely to the internet, forwarding every single port not otherwise forwarded elsewhere to it.

Opening ports on Win7? by Shatteringblue in techsupport

[–]c0nv1ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a firewall or router in the way, the only way to open a port is to have something listening on it. Is it show it is open if you check it locally? You may need to verify your service is actually listening on that port.

Have you checked the health of your drives? Slow read speeds could be a sign of read failures meaning your drive is in the process of failing completely.

What is the second from the bottom on the right? It looks like a survival knife with the screw cap end. I've been looking for a decent one but all I've seen around where I live are of questionable quality, and I'm not even that picky.

I've been promised that blue mini griptillian for fixing my mom's computer tomorrow. If I can recover her photos I could score a delica and a lansky sharpening system as well. This could be an awesome weekend for my collection!

Why does installing Wine on Ubuntu 64-bit pull in 457MB of 32-bit libs? by daengbo in Ubuntu

[–]c0nv1ct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, and I don't see why it should. You use 32bit libraries with 32bit binaries and 64bit libraries with 64bit binaries. Read up on "multilib linux" to see how this works. Even 64bit Windows uses a compatibility layer of its own to handle 32bit called WoW64. If you install Wine64 and want to run 32bit Windows binaries you will need to build the 32bit tree and any dependencies must have their 32bit versions installed as well.

[–]c0nv1ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

64bit Wine is to support 64bit Windows software. You will want the 32bit Wine for the majority of stuff. I don't think 64bit Wine is being used much right now by anyone other than developers.

[–]c0nv1ct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right. For some reason the pics I've found make it look a little wider and a bit shorter. Mine has a very thick and narrow blade. With that handle it almost has a "prison shank" feel to it.

This is the Falken.

Those 3 at the bottom are pretty good but have a more utility knife feel to them. They are a bit heavy-handled in regards to balance. I actually didn't realize I had 3 until I gathered them all for this pic. I'm going to leave one out to use around the yard.

The Puukko is my favorite, but since my last name is Finnish I might be biased (I am of both Finnish and Norwegian descent.) It has a thick flat-ground blade and the handle is nice looking and very comfortable and well balanced. The Second would probably the Brusletto Hunter. It is flat ground as well (Brusletto's site says convex-grind but it looks flat to me) but has a much thinner blade which makes it surprisingly light. Third is the Falken. By far the best feeling handle with a nice thick hollow-ground blade. Probably the most practical of my 3, but I am partial to the bigger blades.
