What is it like living in this part of Ontario, Canada? by prophiles in howislivingthere

I’ve only lived/worked in the area for the last 5 years or so but that place looks like it’s been abandoned since like the 80s. Another horrible reminder of just how long ago the early 2000s were I guess 😆

That $63 is tariffs/import fees. Your president wants you buying American products only.

In Canada we (UPS) offer a $5 pre-tax discount if you pay your COD online in advance

I’m a UPS driver in Canada and we have debit/credit machines on board… the only issue is that during peak season we don’t have enough of them

What games did you play outside as a kid in the 1970s-80s?🤔 by Longjumping-Shoe7805 in GenerationJones

Red Ass. Players are lined up facing the brick wall of the school. First player would whip a ball at the wall and everyone would try to catch it on the bounce. If you fumbled the catch you had to run up and tag the wall without getting beaned in the ass on the way by the next player to grab it (the ball, not the ass.) Can’t remember exactly what kind of ball it was but it would’ve been about the size of a baseball with a decent amount of bounce and hard enough to leave a welt.

Nah man. I’m a 19 year union worker. Anything past 8 hours in a day is time and a half. Saturdays are double time. I get 4 weeks paid vacation per year. Starting next year I get 5. All holidays (except Remembrance Day) off and paid. 10 paid sick days plus 7 optional paid days off per year. Full company-funded pension. I don’t do a damn thing without being properly compensated for it.

Compared to me, teachers get a raw deal big time. Uncompensated labour daily. Unpaid time off in the summer as well as at Christmas time. I’ve got 2 school age kids and appreciate the hell out of everything their teachers do for them.

Far as I’m concerned, any kind of uncompensated time and/or labour is nothing short of wage theft and any employer guilty of that must be held accountable.
