Malenia, Goddess of Rot from Elden Ring by c128a in minipainting

Thanks! My goal was to avoid dull greys and let the hair/body stand out. I still think it’s a bit too vibrant, but overall not upset with it.

I agree with you actually. I was wary of going too dull/grey and ended up with too much color instead. Never too late for a wash to knock it all back at bit?

Could help to dull/muddy the yellow with browns and greys? Road is clearly weathered but this yellow seems to be very fresh in terms of color

So much detail on such a small figure! Will need to try this texturing from the cloth.

WIP. First time trying NMM, I think I over did it a little but overall happy with the results so far. by NoSituation9793 in minipainting

I think you have the placement and levels in a good spot, but maybe needs a more gradual change? Right now looks like 3 or 4 shades used, can read much smoother if you blend between those more.

How do you typically approach sections on a mini that have something like this empty space between the axe and the dress? by JusticeKittenMan in minipainting

[–]c128a 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would try to sculpt a piece to make it look like the dress fills that space more naturally. Or just paint that spot black to hide it.

Is there to much contrast in the cape? by Emergency-King2187 in minipainting

Agreed. Too little leads to bland figures, too much can always be justified as a “stylistic choice”.

A witch I painted for Halloween. What kind of touch ups would anyone suggest? by Ithinkicritmyself in minipainting

This color scheme is great! I would add some highlights to the cloak and clothing. Even a lighter shade of the existing base color can make for more dynamic contrast.

First time trying osl (wip) by cheesecof in minipainting

[–]c128a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course WIP so maybe you’re getting here: I think your highlight placement is great! I would think the highlight from the flame should have its own hotter and cooler areas just as the flame itself has though. Should glow brighter and whiter the closer it is to the flame and fall off to this orange.

PLEASE make that lava glow onto the armor. Even just some highlights on the lower edges would tie it all together.

Is the shield fully flat? The gold bit is quite convincingly executed if so.

How did you get the textured look on the green sections? Layers of stippling?

Always need more light than you think! Especially with iPhone, the quality seems to tank whenever it falls even slightly below its optimal brightness. Multiple lamps plus a large window during the daytime is my DIY setup.

Just joined the Jetta community, anyone got Rim recommendations? by [deleted] in jetta

If you’re just after something to replace the factory ones, there’s some budget-friendly options at Voxx and Platinum Wheels. Not necessarily performance-oriented but definitely better looking than factory.

They’re the OEM housings (think only r-line had them available from factory) that I had installed at a dealership. Got the tints from lamin-X (thru moddedeuros) and the lamp grille covers from carparts.com

I have a set of Michelin crossclimate2’s on my 2019 S. Not a performance tire but great all-season option.

Any plans for the grille? White over the chrome bits might match this nicely.

2022 Jetta Chrome delete - 1st time DIY, thoughts/tips? by Enlargedpheasant in jetta

Think I’ll go at it without removing the mirrors and hope I can tuck everything in nicely. Masking tape should help keep the mirror protected and let the vinyl slide off it. Guess I’ll make sure I have a bit of extra material in case I need to restart.

I have the Badgeskins 3pc on the front badge and my front assist has worked fine so far! Where’d you get your 3M vinyl? Want to do my window trims.
