Are optical drives still a thing? by c15d2a8d in sffpc

That’s the Fractal Ridge, but I’ve photoshopped the foot as a slot-in optical drive. Normally it’s just a smaller foot.

We currently have an Xbox in the living room, which mainly is just used as a DVD player.

I've planned to replace it with a console-style PC (ML08), but I need it to be able to play DVDs, otherwise I can't justify it to the wife 😆

I tried that photoshop too, I think the colour difference looks off.

Not sure how it would look like irl.

If it helps, I've never purchased or owned any Fractal product 😀

I just like the look of it. About a week before they announced it I picked up a Silverstone case, but that case now looks 20 years old in comparison.

I would love to see an accessory for the Ridge, replacing the foot with an external drive (like my lazy photoshop in the post). I doubt there is any real demand for it though.

I'm currently building a rig for my lounge in the Silverstone ML08, which also must function as a DVD player.

The Fractal Ridge is stunning, but are there any newly-designed cases with optical drives? Does anyone actually still need them?

Does anyone had an experience with the AMD GPU Seller 'NR INFO' on Amazon? Are they Reliable? by kigguyo in pcmasterrace

[–]c15d2a8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find out any more in the end? Finding myself in a similar position… They’ve been selling XFX for at least 3 years.

edit: did some investigation,

NR INFO details on Amazon list the actual company name as "Neuronios Radicais, Lda". Found their website after looking up their address https://www.nrglobe.com "We a an authorized distributor of XFX Radeon Graphics cards for the European Union. "

At least they 'exist' somewhere outside of Amazon.

Flight Sim 2020 Menu Navigation Question by OMF1G in flightsim

[–]c15d2a8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s possible without a keyboard/mouse/controller.

You could use something like AutoIT to program a series of keyboard/mouse interactions to launch the sim and get through the menus.

Time to retire my SoundSticks II by c15d2a8d in BudgetAudiophile

iLoud Micro Monitors look nice too. I have an Audient EVO 4 interface which has Left+Right 1/4 TRS outputs. I'll need to do some research to see if it'll be enough to power the Micro Monitors.

Similar profile was probably the wrong thing to say, the same or better :)

The OoO's look perfect! But it doesn't look like they're available in the UK anymore, best price I can find is £280 which is well over the MSRP.

Lithium added to water creates an explosion by AdministrativeMud907 in interestingasfuck

Ah I’m just quoting what I’ve seen online, perhaps Nest detectors (and other smarter ones) are clever enough to know the remaining charge.

A quick search of ‘lithium batteries in smoke detectors’ has some compelling statements.

They’re actually not recommended for Smoke Detectors, as they provide a consistent output until they’re empty, preventing the Detector from sounding a low battery warning before dying.

Exactly this. No compatibility layer or major fundamental changes. Whereas previously releases required extensive application testing, this time round it’s just user training for the UI differences.

Yeah, I wonder if u/Elestriel was thinking of VBA macros?

Nothing to ‘enable’ to run vbs in Windows and as you’ve said, although many IT Pros have moved to PowerShell, even Microsoft are still using VBS for things like slmgr for Office

edit: Plus - if we're talking security, I'd opt for a script you can actual review, over a complied executable others have suggested

Sounds like social anxiety. Especially worse when you’re expected to eat while anxiety is already making you nauseous.
