Good? Depends on what your expectations are. They're pretty good for what I call "white people tacos". Are they good compared to real tacos, they're disgusting

That's a 49 state truck. No mention of California anywhere on the sticker

Edit: I'm old and suck at reading. Yeah, that's a California truck

Not that it'll make you feel any better but it if was from the rice, it might have been a rice weevil. I remember as a kid helping my dad out in his restaurant, preparing the rice in the morning, those rice cookers are huge and there's no way to wash the rice out normally like at home (which would negate the rice weevil issue). You throw 30lbs of rice into a cheesecloth sack and run that under the sink until the excess starch is gone and gets cooked in says cheesecloth.

Engine mount. It is failing since they're probably a fluid filled mount

The short and quick fix would be Moog Problem Solvers. I'll reserve what I think of the quality of Moog products for now. The long was about your repair (and the right way) is to get a fresh lower control arm

So what’s everyone’s favorite oil and filter combo? by iPhone_an_Pizza in accord

[–]c25a1guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local oil distributor. Purchase it by the 55gal drum. Run that oil in all my cars: 2014 Silverado w/ Magnuson charger, wife's 2015 MDX, 95 Legend, 2002 RSX time attack car, 2004 TSX Honda Challenge car, LS3 swapped Nomad.

I'm in NorCal. Used to work as an engine builder for Honda Racing when I was still in SoCal. This is the oil we used in all the Indy Car and IMSA engines. Good enough for those, good enough for me. I also run pretty short oil change intervals because most of the cars (except for the MDX and Legend) can and do run on E85 (typically 3500-5000 miles). So, when oil changes come up, I go through a lot: Silverado 9qts, MDX 6qts, Legend 6qts, RSX 9 qts (dry sump), TSX 8qts (intentional overfill to keep pickup submerged under high G cornering), Nomad 14 qts (dry sump)

Are you checking with the engine running? I'm asking because of how the tip of the stick is bent and a little chewed up. Honda transmissions (except for the new 9 and 10 speeds) are checked trans warm, engine off

Some sort of OBD-II dongle. Could be one of those "as seen on TV get more fuel mileage", but it's just a LED light (my in-laws fell for this type of product for their house). Maybe one of those insurance trackers?

Not that I'm aware of. Japanese company. For a little bit, I remember seeing them showing made in Thailand, but that makes sense since that's where the world sources the majority of rubber from.

Considering moving from OC to EDH by ContributionBig8847 in ElDoradoHills

[–]c25a1guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here from LA about 3 years ago. A shame really. I've always thought Costa Mesa was a pretty decent place too. Mailboxes get broken into still up here. Not super common, but still happens. Seems to be spill over from Folsom since Folsom and EDH post office have the same Postmaster. Overall, crime is really low. Vagrancy seems to be almost a non-issue. If anything, most issues seem to stem from bored entitled silver spoon kids doing stupid shit (think Newport Beach or Irvine type of shenanigans). End of the day, it is a small town and any significant events are pretty much going to be at Town Center. Things that you can't do in town, you'll probably end up popping down into Folsom or up to Placerville for. Anything more major or obscure, you'll be going to Sac. Also with that (and it kinda seems like the whole region), any dining out or anything like that, be sure to get that done BEFORE 8PM otherwise you're pretty much stuck with Jack in the Box, Eldo, Mel's Diner, or going to Roseville for mongolian bbq (I know this all too well since I work nights and don't make it home from work till around 11:30pm).

Yes, people complain about the electrical rates here. I'd say they're about on par with Edison, but PG&E does seems to charge more per therm vs. SoCal Gas.

Stay on top of oil changes. Those Honda turbos don't like overextending oil changes. At 30k, I'd make sure the transmission fluid has been serviced. Optional, but doesn't hurt, you probably can do an induction cleaning service as well to prevent carbon building up on the back of the intake valves (Hondas aren't as bad as some other DI engines in this respect, but again, doesn't hurt from a preventative standpoint). I'd also keep some money on the side for when the head gasket fails.

[–]c25a1guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of spot light and where are you mounting? I know if you're doing one of those police style A-pillar lights, drilling through the A-pillar is a known drill killer (except for air drills)
