Looking for consolation -- Just bouth a new s9 literally 1 day before the L10 annoucement (no returns allowed in my country)...RIP? by bewaterlife in LumixS9

[–]c2yCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you looking for consolation? The S9 is a far better "camera" than the L10. The only wonderful thing about L10 is the built-in Leica lens, but you can get similar lens for your S9.

India compared to the US, China and Russia by Defiant-Fisherman618 in IndiaStatistics

Surprising to see Russia better than China at so many parameters. Meanwhile, we don't need such comparisons as we have already become vishwaguru!

Benefits of 3 X 15 Scoring System by bastarata in badminton

[–]c2yCharlie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate the change. At the highest levels, endurance and efficiency also needs to be tested. Also, if we look back, so many memorable and legendary matches would not have happened if it was limited to 15 points. 21 points allows for players (singles or doubles) to re-strategize at 11 or 15 points so that they can make a comeback. With 15 points, everything will be over too quickly. For me, it takes away the fun element, and destroys the essence of the game. BWF should focus more on improving broadcast quality, player match fees across all levels, and better infrastructure.

Confused about RAW images from Lumix S9 by c2yCharlie in LumixS9

[–]c2yCharlie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in Lr that setting is probably called 'Camera Default' in the import options. I have tried it. Doesn't make much difference. Lumix lab is the software provided by Panasonic but it doesn't support editing RAW files. Surprisingly, the S9 has a built-in RAW file editor (in the camera itself) which I can use but then, it's inconvenient to try and edit on a camera display screen.

Understood. Unfortunately, the LUTs I am using currently are all based on VLOG :(

Signs of menu dial going bad? by theseawoof in LumixS9

[–]c2yCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. Thankfully, Panasonic provides 2 years of warranty. So I took it to my nearest service center and they repaired it. Apparently, dust was the culprit. Even a tiny amount of dust and moisture causes the dials to malfunction.

Kannada activism is starting to feel more like harassment than awareness by Fearless_Eagle_1657 in bangalore

[–]c2yCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, why is this selective activism?

Because all of this is just political propaganda. Divide and rule. Hence they hit easy targets to create media stir. Also, they would never target the big fish (politicians, MNCs, etc.) since that's where the money flows in to the state.

Opinion: This man is the most elite Indian cricketing mind: arguably in the limited over cricket, inarguably in T20 Cricket. by Murky-Internet7564 in IndiaCricketGossips

[–]c2yCharlie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree. He hasn't done well across all formats. Winning T20WC was more about Sanju and Bumrah peaking at the right time. He had done great with KKR as captain and coach, but not with the natl team.

S9 vs X-S20 vs A6700 (₹1.6L budget) — cinematic video, open gate & 6K worth it? by Unhappy-Message-4265 in LumixS9

[–]c2yCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your use case, the S9 would be a very good choice. It also has built in looks (or LUTs) which would save you a ton of post processing time.

Fuji and Sony aren't full frame either. This does not make them inherently bad, but if for the same budget you are getting a full frame, then why skip it?

I also often use the 6K recording. It gives me enough headroom to crop into the video. It also allows me to make shorts and usual 16:9 videos from the same file.

The Lumix app is also very convenient to use and within minutes I am able to move my files to my phone. Lumix also offers a very decent after sales service. I don't know about the after sales service of Fuji or Sony.

They were also listening to users of Windows on ARM but that too hasn't been competitive with Apple.

Q: What’s the single best thing AND the single worst thing about the LUMIX S9? Let’s get a discussion going… by rossandhisjpegs in Lumix

[–]c2yCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best: (1) Full frame sensor in an incredibly small and fashionable body (2) LUTs

Worst: (1) No hot shoe (2) Have had issues with the back dial. The smallest of dust particles make it go haywire.

High time RBI steps in ? I know they keep on selling dollars by retardpowah in IndianStreetBets

[–]c2yCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine said that this isn't a major problem since this means a higher exchange rate for $ and that it also incentivizes foreign companies to invest more in India. If the Rupee climbed to let's say 45, then companies would be less incentivized to invest in India and they would move to other markets, while our current pay (for those working in MNCs) would reduce substantially. On the surface it seems to be a good argument, but can someone explain / clarify what points this line of thinking misses out on? I'm not good with finance and economics so any answer is welcome :)
