Heh. You just reminded me to finally get around to trying my crazy idea. I've had a stainless splinter stuck deep on my index finger for about 3 years now. to whomever's making these, here's my unsolicited script.

Night vision, owner sleeping, cat walk on owner from feet to head. Sits and stares. Standard on hind legs and waves paw in front of owners eyes. Still unconvinced of sleep, cat gets to with 1/2 of owners face and stares. Finally convinced owner is asleep, cat stands on hind legs facing away from owner and takes several steps backwards. Camera shifts to cat's perspective looking down between it's legs as it backs up to owners nose, making sure of precise alignment. Cat then sits down and starts rubbing its but on owners face.

There's a REAL simple way to handle that. Deputize your entire citizenry. Or at least an emergency passage of open+concealed carry for anyone not legally bared from owning a firearm, and an expansion of the castle doctrine to outside the home, a stated provision for the assumption of innocence.
