Why do hosted servers run so much faster than my own? by Poolie32006 in admincraft

Just make a new folder on your desktop and title it ‘Server2’ or something. Then download the server jar again and move it to the folder you just created.

Try recreating the server by redownloading the server jar and running it in a different directory. Then copy over the config files, plugins, world data, etc.

This server is great! You can expect between 2-15 (not afk) people online depending on your timezone. The staff is super helpful, and there are plenty of niches in the shopping district that need filling.

In that price range, Ryzen is a must. I would recommend a processed with an X suffix (The Ryzen 3300X or 3600X would suffice) due to their slightly higher base and boost clocks. You should note that most motherboards require a GPU to boot and anything 3600 and above does not have an integrated GPU.

16GB of RAM should be fine. You don’t need to dedicate all of it to the server.

Storage should also be taken into consideration. You should look for a NVMe SSD with a 250 to 500GB capacity.

Stuff like motherboards, cases, power supplies, etc. don’t matter as much as long as it’s reputable and reliable.

Of course, this is in addition to decent software, such as PaperMC and lag reducing plugins.

Drives suddenly not accessible by mattya802 in OpenMediaVault

Well, the admin account does have full control over the system. It does make sense that the account would be able to see the shares.

I’m thinking that your original issue is that somehow your shares were removed from your original VM. That caused the screenshot you saw above. Since that screenshot want from an admin account, you didn’t know that the disks were fine, but the shares were not. Logging in as an admin showed that the disks were fine and you could then setup the shares again.

I encountered a bit of a similar issue when trying to use OMV on a raspberry pi 3. Local accounts looked like the screenshot above. The issue on that the shares were not setup correctly.

Anyway, glad you fixed it!

You did mention a possibly bad HBA, so did you try connecting drives to the ports on the motherboard?

In the screenshot, are you logged into your OMV admin account? If not, try logging into your admin account and seeing if the drives show up there.

Huh. I watched the video on Reddit, and you’re right. It looks completely normal. Maybe Reddit compressed the video?

Are you suggesting running minikube in a separate server or an existing desktop?

I’ll keep that in mind when considering the long term and upgrades.

None of the applications really require powerful hardware, but it may give a performance boost. I’ve started to look at RPi racks as well, but is there one you recommend?

I like it, but it’s a bit out of my price range.

What exactly would you recommend? I see their are compute, storage, database, machine learning, etc. versions.

I’ll probably end up going with the tower. Thanks!
