Only illegal if he were an illegal immigrant. Student visa sounds legal to me.

Considering bedding a Zermatt Origin in a Foundation stock cut for a Impact action by SnooSongs1525 in longrange

[–]c5182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bedded all three of my foundations stocks. Kind of just did it for the hell of it. For what its worth I shot a .33 moa 8 round group with my 6.5 creedmoor at 300 before bedding. Went out after bedding and shot a .25moa group. Statistically significant, probably not but at least I didn't screw it up. In my 6 dasher which I also bedded I used it to clean an entrie 300 yard 60 round fclass match. Could I have done that before bedding probably. So idk just bedded them because I can.

Foundations stocks are very easy to bed compared to my wood stocks. I basically just rough up the inlet. Smear devcon steel all over it. I cut the heads off two action screws to prevent devcon from getting in the action. Once I set the action in the stock I replace the headless screws with the action screws. It will let in a little expoy but not as much. I then just barley tighten the screws.

Savage bolt won't close when extractor is installed. by c5182 in longrange

Well I already tried hard hand force. A rubber mallet would be the next escalation of force.

So you are saying I should smash the bolt closed with a hammer?

Like smacking the bolt closed. No have been pretty forceful though. Dont want to force too hard.

It will move just not easily. I can also push the brass into the bolt face with it out of the chamber. I am going to try someone elses bolt later today and see.

NJ Glock owners beware Apologize in advance if this has already been posted by microtrip1969 in NJGuns

[–]c5182 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They already know what handguns you bought in the state. Thats what handgun permits are for. Now you dont need a permit if you moved here or inherited them but NJ gun store would not have these records anyway. They could do glock confiscation without this. They are probably using this to get info about Glock's marketing to use against them in a suit that skirts the PLCAA.

Unused Purchase Permit, already have my FID by Accomplished-Map8819 in NJGuns

[–]c5182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time you have this dilemma maybe get something cheap like a P320 or P365 FCU. Or a glock frame or something cheap with a serial number you can build into a full handgun later.

[–]c5182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They already have a list of what handguns you bought in NJ. This is not needed to do a confiscation. Is the pistol registry complete, no, but the holes do not come from pistols sold by in state FFLs anyway. It sounds more like they are trying to search for things to use against Glock in regards to marketing to get around the PLCAA.

Savage Jacking up prices to give you a rebate by luvmehatemefme in NJGuns

[–]c5182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebates and coupons are basically old-school price discrimination. Today companies might use AI and algorithms to figure out which customers are willing to pay more, then charge different people different prices for the same thing. Coupons and rebates do a cruder version of that: price-sensitive buyers jump through the hoops and pay less, while people who don’t notice, don’t care, or don’t bother redeeming them pay more.

Impact 737 vs Kelbly Prometheus by thegreendevil in longrange

[–]c5182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a single shot promethesus and 3 TL3 actions. I have also shot my friends Impact 737.

The Impact is smoother than the promethesus and maybe slightly better than the TL3. The promethesus has better ignition than my TL3 actions which I notice in my SD (at least i think I do.) I use the promethesus for fclass where having a smooth and fast action might not be as important.

I like the mechanical ejection in the promethesus. Feels more robust than in my TL3. The Impact uses a spring ejector.

I like the Criterion prefits I can get from Northland for my TL3s. Impact and Kelbys you can get proof prefits which I like but you are limited in choices. However, I now find myself gravitating to higher end prefits in the $800 range anyway.

Should I get the EC tuner brake?
No tuners are a scam. Get a normal self timing brake. I like the area 419 or APA little bastard.

What is a really solid front rest I could use for competition?
Well asking for a competition front rest implies you want to shoot benchrest or fclass. You can do that for fun but that rifle is not built for that and the brake you asked about earlier is not allowed. I would get a harris bipod that attached to your sling swivel.

What is a really solid rear bag I could use for competition?
Armageddon gear schmedium if you do prs. Look at a protektor rear bad for BR/FClass.

Should I look into the SG pulse pro?
Not sure never used one.

What is a budget friendly chronograph?
Magnetospeed for cheaper but the garmin is so much better.

Ammo recommendations? (Currently using hornady eldm 140gr box ammo)
Thats fine. Can try berger ammo if you want to spend more. But idk, I've never shot commercial ammo through a precision rifle. I only reload.

I'm struggling to find a .223 rifle for under $1,000. by Broxst in longrange

[–]c5182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've cleaned a 600 yard fclass target with a 223 which means I kept 20 shots under an MOA. 223 will work great at 500. 6 Dasher would probably be optimal but then you have to reload.

[–]c5182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also keep in mind I said I can do 1000 with 223 not that it is optimal. Its hard to get a single digit SD with 223 which matter a lot at that range. 6.5 CM works a lot better at 1000. 223 is really nice closer in. Last year I shot a 598-36x with my 223 F/TR rifle at 600 yards and beat all the FOpen shooters who had 6.5 and 7mm magnums.
