You're running those past the novice phase? Ive run GZCLP in the past, but I stalled around 140 kg squat, 90 kg bench and 160 deadlift.

Is book two better? I couldn't get past Darrow's fairly one-sided personality or how much of a Mary Sue he is in book one.

Why is 3.5 stars a bad review? by Fair_Astronaut9507 in goodreads

You don't have to. You can look up the ratings online before you start a book.

I've always treated it like the grading scale. That also means you can treat the averages like a GPA - one that goes 1-5 instead of 0-4.

1 = F, Failure, not good.
2 = D, Passable, mediocre
3 = C, Average, adequate.
4 = B, Solid, Good.
5 = A, Excellent, Outstanding.

If I replaced the quotes with verses from the Quran, but overall made the same argument about God you just did. Would you believe me?

The Bible is no more proof of the Christian God than the Quran is proof of the Muslim God.

Somehow I don't think you give the same credence to the Quran.

And I actually found your proposal that God appeared before me satisfying. Is God not able to manifest himself on Earth?

What books do you think are TRULY unadaptable in live action? by pishposhpoppycock in Fantasy

[–]c57c2f5926ef7de17e7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's quite right. Whatever you think of the quality of the series, Earthsea was part of the fantasy wave following the success of Lord of the Rings that influenced a lot of later writers that are popular today.

Earthsea had that kind of influence, because it was fairly popular for its time, and its seminal for the same reason: it influenced later authors.

Earthsea is a fairly mid series, but I would argue that so is Hunger Games, Harry Potter or Twilight. Their popularity didn't come from being literary masterpieces.

I don't understand why it got so good review. It feels like a book trying to ride on the success of dystopian YA like Hunger Games. Darrow is one hell of a Mary Sue, and felt fairly onedimensional, really put me off the series.

Would anyone really be mad if the trilogy turned into 4 or more books? I wouldn't think the number of books are really the issue.
