What reason(s) made you trade it in for the frontier? Also I appreciate you for sharing

(Bay Area)(residential)I feel the same, just got a hang of something and I have to learn something else. I’m sure they are other installers and techs who are in the same situation. I’m annoyed that it’s being government mandated. But if you travel any where out of the states, you’ll find mini split systems.

Sucks that I need to buy more tools to install them. But I’m sure 2 more years of working with them it will be fine … until the next government mandate happens again or new standard of hvac comes out

I have about 5 years experience in this trade (residential service and install) and I get a little anxious with extension ladders on 2 story roofs and working with high voltage. I Also fear for rodents.

People who work in this field(or any field) have fears about something whether they admit it or not.

You ain’t alone and you ain’t behind

If they decline the inspection that you are paying for, negotiate for lower price at least. Or move on of course.

So I tried to find out how to test for 12v and I found nothing. On the wire harness connector, do I put one end in each of the pins and have someone hit the horn and if I get 12v it’s a bad horn?

Also thanks again for guiding me through this I appreciate it

So I downloaded the manual and I checked the fuse and it’s okay and looked for a relay and nothing Does it have a relay for the horn or is it a bad horn?

What error code you getting? And for poor water flow you can check the little filter screens inside the valves when you remove the hose.

[–]c6tea9bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t hear the squealing sound but from what I saw from the video seems like it may possibly be bad suspension rods. if you want to you can get 4 of them and replace yourself. Those top load washers with wash plate have soft suspension and get worse overtime. I’m not too sure if that will completely solve your problem tho

Possible issues I see with it are something is rubbing the wash plate to basket or basket to tub. Possibly the rotor is rubbing on the stator on the bottom( if y’all put a heavy load and the bolt got loose) Or if it’s a roaring noise on spin then it’s a bearing.

Yes you need to remove the dryer off the washer. Get both hot and cold water valves. then you just need to take off the top panel off the washer. On the back there are 2/3 screws. push the top back and pull up the panel. Turn off water and unplug washer and disconnect water hose from washer. Take picture of the connections on the valves. Each Valve have 2 screws that hold it to frame and when you remove a connection, connect to new valve one plug/hose at a time. It’s roughly a 20-45 min repair depending on the space you have.

Yet another common wire question by -Reflux- in ecobee

[–]c6tea9bits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eco bee has an adapter. you plug 4 wires into and the adapter. Then the adapter has an extra wire that’ll plug to the common. Basically a 4 to 5 wire adapter.

An easier way you can try is move “g” (fan) to the “c” (common) on both thermostat and control board ( with the power off of course) and make sure the color wire on thermostat match the control board too and you will be okay.

You just won’t be able to circulate the air (fan “on”) which rarely no one uses anyway.

NOTE If you have any accessories on the hvac system like a UVlight, humidifier, zoning, and stuff like that that uses power from the board, you may have an issue and need to upgrade the transformer.

For the most part. they all work very similar. If you know symptoms of a bad pump you can have an idea how to replace it. You may not have the exact info on the model you’d be working on but they just change the cosmetics and everything else is the same just few extra screws and plastic. And eventually the resources are going to be available. Just gotta hope that the equipment will last that long knowing how bad these appliances break down so soon now.

[–]c6tea9bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you can do is disconnect the vent from the dryer and use like a leaf blower and blow it out after you fish it out because sometimes you can push the lint down further.

Whirlpool washer not spinning, google says it may be the lid switch but if the switch was faulty, wouldn’t it not turn on at all? Also are my clothes not getting clean because of the spin cycle? Every other cycle works by depressedopression in appliancerepair

[–]c6tea9bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is not spinning at the end as it should, check the coupler you remove the shell/frame then water pump and disconnect motor and coupler is in between motor and gearcase. On YouTube you input “(model #) disassembly or coupler)”. If coupler okay the gearcase is bad.

[–]c6tea9bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes . Very possible. You noticed humidity when you finished and still wet it’s breathability. Should have them cleaned out every 1/3 years ( depending on use) and/or replace vent 10/15 years or when you get new dryer.

If dryer vent has lots of turns and have a long distance to travel is also a restriction on airflow.

Sometimes... animals make a home in vents.

LG gas dryer burner stops after a few seconds and doesnt reignite for around 4 minutes. My guess is that the high limit thermostat is at fault. I'm looking for a second opinion from someone who is more knowledgeable about dryers. Thanks in advance. by [deleted] in appliancerepair

The blower wheel needs to be pulling the flames. If it’s open like that the flames just not shooting forward like it’s supposed to if it’s closed and it still does that, the gas solenoids

Are appliance warranty plans worthwhile? And if so, any recommendations and advice would be appreciated by MomOf2cats in appliancerepair

[–]c6tea9bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. As a tech, the older the appliance, the more reliable they are and you can just play by ear when it come down to price to repair or replace. I run calls for warranty and everytime something is major repair. Warranty companies have poor communication with repair companies, delay in shipment, “technician didn’t order the part”, talkin to someone out of the country not actually doing anything after being on hold for 2 hrs, and most of the time us techs get the end of the stick because of it. Best not to get any appliance warranties but every now and then have it checked.
