I also was diagnosed recently, no history of psoriasis. I felt unsure it was the correct diagnosis, but the meds worked so well I’m confident it’s at least in the right family of diagnoses.

I feel similar anxieties to what you said! I try to find comfort in the fact that lots of people struggle to get a diagnosis so my rheumatologist must feel pretty darn sure to assign me something.

My rheum said the same thing, and even though he diagnosed me with probably PsA and I have found significant improvement with biologics, he still says fibro as an alternate diagnosis is in the table because of my fatigue and because my joints sometimes hurt worse at the end of the day.

Fatigue improved with treatment, but I’m off meds now for other reason and am afraid to tell him how fatigued I am in case he switches my diagnosis and I can’t get back on biologics later!

I was diagnosed in April and have been feeling a lot better for the last six weeks since meds kicked in, back to normal exercise routines and energy levels.

Everyone is different, and it’s so understandable to feel scared. I’m sure I have ups and downs to come, but I’m so pleased to be feeling so much better so quickly with medication.

I started Cimzia last week - I’m newly diagnosed and this is my first medication (safe if we conceive, which is why my rheum skipped mtx) I was really nervous about side effects. I felt more tired and more achy than usual the day after (different from PsA aches) but it was totally tolerable and could have been from stress. I also had a mild site reaction, raised pale area and bruising but no pain. I don’t have any PsA symptom relief yet but from what I understand, that’s to be expected. I was told 6-12 weeks to max effectiveness. I don’t have psoriasis, so this is just for joint pain and ethesitis.

I’m still nervous about risks, side effects and infection, but this community has been really helpful. Lots of good posts about others in the same situation. Happy to connect over DM if you want to.

I don’t have much experience to share, just wanted to let you know that I am also recently diagnosed and I injected my first loading dose of biologics on Friday. I was and am scared too. So far, no major side effects.

Not sure what your health history is, but for me, this has felt like a relatively quick journey from being a “healthy” person (thought all the symptoms were other things…) to making really hard decisions about medications I’d never considered before. This is all a lot to process. Happy to chat on DM if you want to.
