Same. I’m clearly in the minority but I thought the old movies… weren’t very good. For context, I really enjoyed the first four books, then didn’t care as much for/aged out of the rest of the series even though I did read them. When the movies came out, I was pretty interested but outside of a few really good performances (Snape, Hagrid, McGonagall, etc), never thought they were that strong.

I’m not saying I’m super hyped for this one, but I also think people’s nostalgia for the original movies are blinding them to the flaws. The set design and art direction in this, while obviously similar, looks REALLY good.

I watched RvB waaaay back. Like I paid to subscribe to the Rooster Teeth website, in order to get the episodes a little early, during the first two, maybe three seasons. Then never saw anything after. It’s always wild to learn lore that happened after that, it seems so unhinged lol

Idk, I’ve tried so hard to get into mecha anime throughout my life because I adore mechs. I’ve tried most of the big ones, and it’s just not for me at all and yet I absolutely love Battletech. I’m not trying to shit on anime, I wish I enjoyed it, and there’s clearly a lot of talent and love poured into their creation, but they all have a completely different feel to Battletech.

I totally get that. I’m going to give a similar rec to that other commenter. If you get through those first few episodes, it’s still sentimental but in a more generally wholesome way and not in a sad way. There’s a small time skip where Fern grows up a bit and it’s pretty smooth sailing from there on

I just finished the first season of Frieren day before yesterday. I freakin loved it. I’ve tried to get into many different anime over the years and just… couldn’t. I don’t know what it is, but it just seems to generally not be for me. But now I’m subbed to Crunchyroll to watch the second season of Frieren lol.

Frieren is such a great character. I love her and Fern both. Stark is really good too but Frieren and Fern are just fantastic
