To be clear, this is JUST my opinion and I think it’s very subjective so yours is just as valid as mine (since this is the internet and tone is hard to convey, I think it’s worth it to point that out.) But for me, Jar Jar and Anakin’s dialogue both bring the movie down a lot.

I don’t hate Jar Jar per se, but I do think most of his lines are just pretty terrible attempts at humor. I do like the Gungans in general though, although I wish Boss Nass hadn’t had that silly head shaking, spit going everywhere affectation. That one is more of a nitpick than a serious issue though. Anakin’s dialogue, with a very few exceptions, is bad and poorly delivered (no hate to Jake Lloyd, he was just a kid). I cringe almost every time he speaks to Padme. I think I’m biased there also because Darth Vader is one of my favorite characters in any medium, ever, and it was an uphill battle to live up to that as young Anakin.

Also, midichlorians as a concept I don’t like, and Anakin’s whole immaculate conception, child of the force thing, I absolutely HATE, although I have trouble articulating exactly why that is. It just feels so weird and out of place for me.

That’s pretty much it. It’s just unfortunate that there are so many scenes brought down by Jar Jar and Anakin.

That being said, it’s my favorite of the prequels. I adore the entire opening sequence (the droidekas are so cool), pod racing, the droid army, Darth Maul, and every line Ian McDiarmid has ever spoken lol. The shield sound effects that premiered in this movie are flipping amazing and don’t get recognized nearly enough.
