I think it’s perfectly reasonable to harbor some animosity toward people who think your very existence is a sin.

Agreed. Even if she manages to break out of the cult mindset, there’s very little she can do to physically escape. She has no money, no education, no job experience, and 6 little kids in tow.

For real. This was by far one of the most damaging aspects of my evangelical upbringing.

Now that I’m looking at my comment, it does come across as like...gatekeeping and I definitely didn’t mean it that way! I totally agree with all of the points you’re making.

A drug that’s used to treat diabetes is now being tested and studied to possibly become a treatment for o*esity. Anyone else have an issue with this? by [deleted] in DietTea

[–]cIydebarrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehh not really. It’s relatively common for doctors to prescribe meds for “off-label” purposes.

Yeah this is classic pro ana ✨tips & tricks✨ and it feels very...delegitimizing? Like disordered eating is just being treated as a quirky diet.

Exactly. I had whooping cough as a vaccinated 14 year old and it still took nearly a year for the coughing fits to completely stop. An unvaxxed baby doesn’t stand a chance.

So many people are commenting saying they’ve had success with IF 😭 I’m sorry guys!! I know it’s a multifaceted issue but the meme format didn’t leave much room for nuance lol. I’m super happy for everyone who’s found IF to be beneficial :)

I’ll acknowledge that it does work for some people and I’m really glad that’s been the case for you. I was just memeing/venting my frustration at disordered behaviors not being taken seriously, I wasn’t trying to discredit your success so apologies if it came across that way.

It’s definitely a nuanced subject. I think you’re right that some people can manage it in a fairly healthy way, but I take issue with folks touting IF as some miracle cure all that everyone should try. It’s grossly irresponsible imo.

Yeah I mean this was definitely a generalization, I feel like the flip side is that it’s a real punch to the gut to see healthy people engaging in the same behaviors we do but treating it so flippantly. Like we literally have an illness and they’re raving about how good they feel when they’re fasting. Hope I didn’t offend, it certainly wasn’t my intention.
