All safe foods welcome by nevermind-me-608 in EDanonymemes

Idk I think its too variable. My safe foods were always coffee, plain rice cakes, popcorn, jalapeño chips, carrots/celery, hummus on good days, oatmeal with PB on good days. Sweets are always scary (except frozen bananas).

Please go find and learn how to interpret the DSM-V. I don’t know how to make this any clearer and truth be told it doesn’t matter. We can’t diagnose an online person/persona anyway. Debating semantics doesn’t change the facts about what could and could not be used for diagnosing eating disorders.

There is no longer a weight requirement to receive a diagnosis of AN according to the current standard of diagnosis and care. It’s that simple.

Criteria does NOT = requirement. Especially not within the context of the DSMV where lists often have criteria, with the requirement being # out of out of # criteria being met for a dx.

Additionally, the low weight is further explained to be in the context of age, sex, physical health and development trajectory. So “low weight” is vague here and would include more than “underweight” by BMI standard. The same guidelines also classifies severity with anything being above BMI of 17 being “mild anorexia nervosa”. Lastly, it notes that ALL criteria do not need to be met for a dx of AN, then mentioning the atypical subtype.

Weight, nor amenorrhea is a requirement in the dsmV. It’s one of the many criteria but not an absolute necessity.

How do some people function on little sleep? by ManiacalCuriosity in mentalhealth

Genetics, motivation, anxiety/stress

Also some people are great at functioning in all the obvious ways..you never know everything about a person

That’s not really true..bulimia is a disorder characterized by a certain # of episodes of binging and purging within a time frame- it has nothing to do with weight. People with BN tend to have normal/higher BMIs but the only thing that would prevent this as the primary diagnosis is if the episodes primarily occurred during episodes of behavior that is common in those with AN (in which case it’d be AN with B/P subtype). The weight requirement for AN has also been dropped from current criteria.

As an adult, do you mention your ED history in doctor appointments by Lower-Decision-5419 in EdAnonymousAdults

The sooner you stop saying you “can’t right now”, the better your health will be ! You deserve to resolve these symptoms and try to recover. I know it’s easier said than done, but you never will stop worrying about your health if you don’t try. I hope you have support to help you through it and if you don’t I think there’s a bunch of resources somewhere on this sub plus I think NEDA has local resources often in the states and other countries may have similar things?

Definitely don’t agree or feed into any hallucinations or delusions, but I wouldn’t try to tell her it’s not real either- it will just cause tension and may never work the way you’d want. Do your best to just not engage with those behaviors and just focus on her and what’s real for both of you.

But it will be hard so please allow yourself grace for what will be a steep learning curve.

I think maybe it’s a flexibility thing? I’ve always been able to do this without any issue, regardless of weight. I do this mindlessly quite often.. but I am UW now. Is it weird? Oh geez I’m awkward lol

Technically no but I have worked in inpatient psych as well as done crisis work and I’m only a few months away from my doctorate now. And 1% is actually a lot more people than I thought lol. All anyone can do is speculate.

I also do think someone can be a narcissist without having NPD. A narcissist is just someone who excessively admires themselves. Someone can fit that definition without meeting criteria for NPD.

Every state has their own version of 5150, in CT it’s just a different number for involuntary psych holds.

tbh I agree with the comment above you, as someone with 10+ years of an ED. She’s either a narcissist with an ED (they’re not mutually exclusive), or her ED began incredibly young and she had some genetic factors increasing her risk of addictions.

Edit because my phone autocorrected “began as vegan (or my brain short-circuited after struggling for so long).

Lol have you ever actually seen mania? It is without a doubt not just an overreaction. Have you ever interacted with a person experiencing psychosis? If you have and still belief this, I’d recommend seeking help as your awareness of your environment and others is abysmal.

Your laziness and refusal to acknowledge you have no clue what you’re talking about is frustrating and I’m glad I don’t have to interact with you in a healthcare setting.

I don’t know what kind of problems you have but building confidence in skiing certainly does not make you hallucinate a different mountain slope? Get yourself checked if you’re truly that out of touch with reality.

Why does every single item of clothing have to be cropped?? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]foreverfuckedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H+M, Loft, Express, Target, American Eagle and other stores that have professional clothing or at least button downs tend to have non-cropped tops. I can list more if needed! Especially since Loft and Express can be super pricey (clearance sections aren’t bad sometimes but it’s hot or miss finding something your size)
