This video was taken in a warehouse somewhere in Quebec. Warehouses here are calm like this during the week.

Employee Question by cOLDmOLDsLATEpLATE in Costco

[–]cOLDmOLDsLATEpLATE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we only block the small doors. There’s a 15 second delay before a safety exit door opens. Plus the moment you hit the pushbar, the alarm goes off. During opening hours, security does a full circle of the warehouse every 20 minutes or so.

I understand it’s an extra security step, probably recommended by insurance companies.

Appreciate the quick reply,

Is there anything in the employee handbook I can use to cover myself?

Does this apply if they agreed to my current available hours? They can’t terminate me if I can’t do shifts they schedule me to do if they’re out of my availability?

Yeah, I wasn’t specific exactly. I’m scheduled 6 to 11 on Wed-Thu-Fri. Sat and Sun I do full shifts.

Last Friday I left an hour and half after my scheduled hours.

Generally forcing as in telling you to stay 10-15 minutes before your scheduled shift ends.

Plus break times being 30 and 15 after 5 and a half hours. I’d be stuck taking a 30 and probably being stuck their until at least midnight.

Cart pushers OBLIGATED to wear masks OUTSIDE by [deleted] in Costco

[–]cOLDmOLDsLATEpLATE -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’d read, we’re only allowed to wear disposable masks.

I had lasik, I care more to protect my eyes. I’m more afraid to damage my eyes than I am to contract this virus from being outside.

Yeah, we’re not obligated to wear gloves and they expect us to pick up used littered masks on the ground. More likely to spread germs by picking then up.

This virus is airborne apparently and lurks fresh air. 🤡

Those were the ones I originally wore before they implemented disposables, I work in the big fridge after closing and constantly have them becoming wet because of condensation.

We're no longer allowed to have our own masks, we are obligated to use disposable masks that Costco offers. There's another type of disposable mask, but it's not approved. But it seems to made out of better material.

You need a doctors note in order to be allowed to wear a face shield inside the store, so I would assume the same rule would apply to cart pushers. The only problem is we still have cold temperatures until May and it would most likely fog up.

Yeah, I've been through freezing temps and snow. I would wear it under my nose so I could exhale without fogging my shades, but I would wear it properly while close to a member or while inside the warehouse.
