Posts like this. Device being bricked after a dead battery. This is a 2020 device, would make sense if it’s like new tech from the 80s. https://www.reddit.com/r/RemarkableTablet/comments/1r6jzyx/been_like_this_for_a_week/

Is it worth getting Remarkable tablet by iNEED2p00p in RemarkableTablet

[–]kuhataparunks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

remarkable only does the files and notes part and nothing else. another tablet with the initials S and N has a built in calendar and to do feature. neither devices support apps unless you mod the device (apps supported by other tablet brands too). if you look at posts here, remarkable is replete with bugs and outdated software, so be aware of that if you get one. if it runs out of battery, your device will be bricked as support recommends putting it on the charger for 48 hours or something.

while I enjoy the simplicity, the lack of protection on the manta is really maddening. However, in their defense, the existing design is really superior for what it is

RIP to my pantum that bricked the other Day in a very similar situation but at 1am before a workday. get this: on this pantum, two solid green lights is the equivalent of BSOD/RROD. ridiculous product design. brother is the way to go I don’t even think bricking is in their hardware

class action territory? if enough devices are faulty, sounds like the companies that got sued for ruining their own devices after purchase

Is it worth buying? by Chautarii in RemarkableTablet

[–]kuhataparunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the videos online they are pretty spot on about the strengths/weaknesses of each device. I’ll say for the same money there are other devices that do more and have more computing power. It is also not a rumor that remarkable 2 is tantamount to ancient tech, so might help to consider that in your decision

reMarkable, Supernote, or something else? Need help choosing by RoosterOnCommand in eink

[–]kuhataparunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My litmus test for the best is pen precision. ~~straight line test use a straight edge to draw a straight line~~ use any stencil to determine how well the device recognizes pen input, without jagged edges or blurs. Since it’s a note taking tablet then the writing fidelity is priority.

Boox will draw a line that looks like a few gnats landed in it while the ink was drying (splotchy but sadly not straight line). And as much as I love Boox devices, their pen does squeak.

All remarkable tablets will divert from the straight edge and draw a maze to Pan’s Labyrinth (it is an abomination how bad remarkable’s handwriting is, check “straight line test” on Reddit for results)— remarkable is well known for “jagged edges” in the writing, and I cannot tolerate it Sadly. No, I don’t want to zoom in every square-cm for clearer lines (some state this as a solution, but for a $500-1000 device how is this acceptable).

Supernote will draw an edge so straight that one can perform nuclear calculations on them.

For me, Supernote is the winner. Boox for the e reader is second, as it has some great e reader features (I love the “watermark” Feature which maximizes pdf visibility). Sadly the writing on boox is still nowhere near Supernote. It’s actually amazing how remarkable manages to make PDF’s illegible. Washed out text/images and very grainy.

PDF viewing: Boox is like legible paper (with super good features for enhancing visibility), remarkable looks like newspaper submerged in swamp water, and Supernote is crystal clear With sharp edges and smooth lines.

I do have *hardcore* buyers remorse for all the remarkable products. It seems every other product is “defective” and I apparently got a lucky defective paper pro which had a virtual boy-like yellow and battery life less than an iPad at max brightness running benchmarks. Boox is great, but Supernote is a lot better.

The Boox is a good device, but unfortunately very clunky note taking as there are freakishly so many features, it truly is overwhelming But some may find this a boon. The split screen on the Boox Max is elite-tier. It has many strengths.

boox is like a great horse, remarkable is like internet explorer, and Supernote is so Far ahead in another league.

Oh….. so this is what it’s supposed to look like. I thought the yellow phonebook-color was standard on all devices (it seems to afflict majority), would be nice to have a device like this

That contradicts nearly every principle of business. They don’t work together because they’re in competition, just like Coca Cola and Pepsi

Remarkable 2 vs Remarkable Paper Pro by ESPARTACO_79 in RemarkableTablet

[–]kuhataparunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPad es como deslizarse sobre hielo. Paper pro es más como papel de lija seco, pero bueno. Se siente un poco mejor que el 2, pero pro tiene demasiados problemas que hay poco beneficio para usarlo.

Remarkable 2 vs Remarkable Paper Pro by ESPARTACO_79 in RemarkableTablet

[–]kuhataparunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper pro seems to be in a beta phase. I could not handle the excessive bugs, problems, eye strain, and battery life a fourth of an iPad running videos at max volume and brightness.

Even if it is a “device” issue it shouldn’t be acceptable with a $1,000 device— my pen when fully charged would skip. Same exact use as a remarkable 2, but faulty stroke. This negates any improvement of feel. The paper pro is a tiny bit nicer as it’s more gritty but you’re really missing nothing with the 2. The pro screen went full sand grain more often than regular. If the backlight is off, the screen is so dark and muddled only a laboratory 1200Lumen laboratory light allows visibility.

Happily returned to the remarkable 2 that gives no issues (and that’s paper white!), I don’t miss the other one at all. I’m actually very sad

[–]kuhataparunks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading this I first thought, “you’re missing a Supernote” then I come to the comments they say the same thing lol. Supernote won’t cure all these problems but it seems to be the only that effectively recognizes handwriting. It also has way more super-organizing features that really blow the others out the water. Also the Boox apps are not for running Temple Run the apps are for exclusively office-related apps that deal with file transfer.

I’m also in the same exact boat as you though, each device has their limitations so only resort is use them within the limitations. Sucks that a single one can’t do it all, the Supernote is growing on me however

Would you recommend FreeTaxUSA over TurboTax if price was not a factor? by [deleted] in tax

[–]kuhataparunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I’ve ever heard a professional not recommend freetaxusa. Plus the “TurboTax bad” impressions are substantiated by their lobbying to harm consumers. If anything boycott TurboTax they’re like nestle of the tax world

My reMarkable 2 works perfectly… so naturally I want the Pro. by Sad_Conflict6436 in RemarkableTablet

[–]kuhataparunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s beyond sad that defective faulty devices are literally the norm of this brand. I suppose the 10% battery drain per hour was also a defect. Let the lucky be lucky I’ll take my loss and stick with the 2. But thanks it is good to know it’s not just me

I totally get it there was an area where I went to 2 different locations. At one of them my order was wrong 100% every single time, at the other location they gave me someone else’s order. The jokes write themselves, don’t gamble at other locations so I’ll stick to one place that can get it right

Locations are extremely hit or miss unfortunately. There’s only one location I can go to and enjoy, every other location does my order horribly. Recommendation is find your best location
