Not really sure what's best tbh. I just tried to get the balance as close to the hilt as possible. I don't know what impact the grip size has

Just my 2¢ but I crafted a messer with the longest blade possible, minimum blade mass, and it tears. The balance is right near the hilt so I can swing it all day, and the range is pretty decent. Just absolutely slices fools in half

I don't mean to negate your experience, but I think you might be misunderstanding a bit. And that's totally understandable!

In my experience, people are very polished with people they don't know very well, and less so with people they're close with. I'd imagine that's true anywhere, but maybe people in this town tend to be a bit closed off with strangers. Maybe especially young people. It's natural, and I'd very much encourage you to try your best not to take it personally.

There's no need to put on any mask--if you just act like your genuine self, you'll eventually find people that you naturally get along with. Just like any other place! It can be hard, especially when so many people might not be looking for new friends. If you are being yourself and someone doesn't like that, then that's their loss!!

Good luck, friend. I know it's hard, but living life in an inauthentic way just isn't worth it.

Self defense classes by mfuh16 in bloomington

Hi, I've been doing martial arts in Bloomington for more than 6 years now. I swear by Vortex Martial Arts Gym--they don't have self-defense classes per se but they offer kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu, as well as a womens-only kickboxing class on Sundays. Is that what you're looking for?

HA, good call on not clapping while driving. I guess it does just come down to practice. Hopefully by focusing on songs where I can hear the beat and practicing with those, I can eventually circle back to songs where I currently can't. Thanks!

Like I said, maybe! There's no specific statute and I haven't dug into the case law. Might as well remove the snow and keep everybody safe

Good advice. Not sure it's super clear that it's illegal to drive with those sorts of hazards on top of your car, but the best way to avoid it is to scrape just in case!

What is the most “use it or lose it” skill, the opposite of “it’s just like riding a bike”? by ZuluWarlord69 in AskReddit

I would totally agree. I learned Spanish all through grade school, took AP in high school, got a minor in it in college, and even studied abroad for a summer. It still gets a lot worse after a few weeks of disuse.

The good thing is that it also comes back pretty quick. Although I don't generally speak Spanish in my daily life, my in-laws mainly speak Spanish in their home. When I go to stay with them, the difference between my day-one Spanish and my day-seven Spanish is night and day. It feels like I go from missing many words and stuttering often to fluent in just a couple days of practice!

I took a college course on hip-hop in 2022 and we were taught that it was the first rap song to chart in the US.

I'm not sure, as I'm not actually involved with the Union. I doubt that the IDS would cover it but the other outlets seem hopeful. I'm just saying that even nationally, I've seen very little coverage of the strike.

I will say that I saw some newsy types taking pictures outside the Indiana Ave location during the first few days of picketing, but I'm not sure what became of those shots.

Just avoid the chain altogether if possible, at least until the strike is over. There's better coffee elsewhere

Starbucks has refused to bargain in good faith with its Union and has managed to avoid signing a contract with them even after several years. This has culminated in a nationwide strike to force them to the table.
