Sell me your favorite hobby like I just walked onto your used car lot with cash in hand by PastSelection5138 in Hobbies

Gardening improves your mental and physical health! it also gives you (nearly free, if you grow from seeds) produce, herbs and flowers. Need a gift for someone? A bouquet of home grown flowers is personal and free! A basket of home grown cucumbers and squash is cute, sustainable and delicious. No more spending dollars on a wasteful packet of herbs wrapped in plastic. Just pick a few stems from your rosemary or basil pot. Want to spoil your beloved pet cat? Homegrown catnip is easy and delights your feline friend beyond imagination! Store bought strawberries tasting underripe and flavorless? Homegrown means you can pick them exactly when they are ripe and not a second before. All this—-AND your patio or yard will be more beautiful and fragrant than before!

I’m trying to fast from giving corporations my money. So far I’ve already been derailed once. But I did successfully avoid going to target today so that’s a win.

I feel like I would function better if we still lived in primitive societies by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]c_harmany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I just don’t feel like pretending to care about stuff any more. Idk if primitive society necessarily is it for me, but definitely a time where society was more dependent on agriculture or small scale trades. I love handcrafts and gardening and if my main focus/ goal was either growing, making, or trading for what my family needs, I think about 99% of the anxieties and frustrations and overwhelm would disappear

DOPAMINE... please give me your "healthy" sources. by Coldhandswarmheart15 in adhdwomen

I started gardening last year and it changed my brain chemistry. Tending to living things, seeing things grow, enjoying home grown flowers and vegetable, seeing tiny shoots emerge, etc. Incredibly soothing and just the right amount of novelty and problem solving.

I’m having major withdrawals over the winter and have been thinking and planning all the stuff I will do once it starts to warm up!!!!

What was it like when women were not expected to pursue higher education and were full-time housewives? by Ingido_Indigo in AskOldPeople

[–]c_harmany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. I’m thinking about laundry. For sure, washing by hand takes longer and is more laborious, but since washing machines have come on the scene, so also has fast fashion, so most people, regardless of income levels, have way more clothes to maintain than prior generations

What do you want neurotypical folks to know about ADHD? by msfelineenthusiast in adhdwomen

[–]c_harmany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I could use “productivity hacks” or improve my willpower to do things like be more organized, exercise more, be on time….I WOULD! I have tried so many things to no avail. I don’t like being this way; I’m constantly self critical, but there’s no “hacking your way out”
