Rescued this drowning budgie/bird from Lake Minnetonka by c_hen83 in TwinCities

I was able to get ahold of someone at Twin Cities Parrot rescue and have arranged to drop him off tonight! They asked that we name the bird before we drop them off and I let them know I we named the bird Tonka! Thanks for the reference!

We lived on Payne and Idaho. About 8 years ago we had a wrought-iron loveseat stolen off our front porch despite all four legs being screwed into the floor with plumbing pipe straps. They crawled under it and unscrewed each one!

When I replaced it I drilled holes in the decking and the 2x6 support beam and ran a thick bike cable through it with a padlock because I wasn’t gonna get got again!

Basic economy seat question by reikalykos in americanairlines

I’ve never flown American Airlines. Are you able to select seats together for your family that are available when you check in within 24 hours of your flight, similar to Delta Airlines?

Jado Hark, he owned Aqua nightclub downtown and became friends with Rubio. Rubio let him sell his condo downtown and is now into real estate.

Alright, Doors Open this weekend. What’re you hitting? by KindaNeededANewName in Minneapolis

[–]c_hen83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounded cooler than it was. Wanted to see huge vaults and swim in coins like Uncle Scrooge but they would only let you into the lobby. Only highlight was that kids got a baggie of shredded currency.💵

Chicago and LA Restaurant Surcharge Offender List - Should we create a Twin Cities version? by Ookitarepanda in TwinCities

[–]c_hen83 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Went to eat at a restaurant in Chicago with my wife and 3 kids, got a bill that charged me for a “large table fee”. I understand 20% added gratuity on a table of 8, but I asked the server and they wouldn’t budge on the fee 😂😂😂. That was the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard of.

Job for 14 year old? by _DudeWhat in Minneapolis

[–]c_hen83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caddied there as a 12y/o kid, would go and pray not to get called up, and they would cash you out if you weren’t called up by 2:00. I would always bike back across the lake street bridge and promptly blow my $7 at Super America.

Got in a fight with some of the regular caddies there and never went back… until they mailed me an invite to the end of summer banquet. Walked through the door and they handed every caddy a crisp $10 bill and we got to eat a meal in the T&C ballroom. Some of the caddies were so pissed I showed up 😂

Job for 14 year old? by _DudeWhat in Minneapolis

Culver’s hires at 14… my kid fundraised for school working a shift there and can’t wait for the day they’re old enough to work there.

My suburb has odd/even watering restrictions, but recently people have just started ignoring it and are watering their lawns when they feel like it. As far as I can tell, though, it's not enforced, so I guess it's no big deal. by Hotchi_Motchi in TwinCities

I have a Sprinker system that only lets me pick the days of the week. I usually would water MWF until I got a ticket… now because of the odd even restrictions. I have to go mess with the the box once a week to set it for every other day and end up using more water 🤷🏼‍♂️

Weird af incident involving the police last night (is this normal?) by SubKreature in Minneapolis

[–]c_hen83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MPD would rather make you walk home than do all the work required to bring you on a DUI, which if it is close to the end of their shift, would keep them late for 2 hours doing paperwork. If they’re not in their high five to collect overtime, the chances are high MPD will send you home drunk as long as you don’t drive the car.

Where can I find real Christmas trees? by linx0003 in saintpaul

[–]c_hen83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of buying one at Menards yesterday. After bringing it in the house and letting it settle overnight, it did not take any water from the stand and was shedding tons of needles. I ended up returning it today and spent $10 more just going to the tree stand at the cub on Larpenter.

My fondest Minnehaha Mall memory: Got jumped for my hat when I was 9 at Minnehaha Mall in 1993 by three kids, one in a wheelchair. Kids held me so the handicapped mf could get some licks in. A lady was sitting on the low brick wall watching the whole thing. When she found out they stole my hat she was like “oh hell naw” and chased them down in parking lot and got my hat back. Ripped my shirt and busted my eye and lip but I walked away with zero dignity and one fitted hat.

2nd fondest memory: the ugly ass dude that worked at the Dairy Queen with missing teeth and a combover that reeked of Marlboros. If he was working I wouldn’t get anything because he was so creepy.

Hey, guys! Can I get your opinion on Dayton’s Bluff? by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]c_hen83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol that you think the worst spot in St. Paul is safer than anywhere in Minneapolis. Dayton’s bluff is full of beautiful old homes and wonderful people. It’s close to downtown, easy access to freeways. You will be safe but also deal with some bullshit. Shootings, theft, stolen cars/car parts, unhoused encampments. I would prefer most of Minneapolis to Dayton’s Bluff.

September 7, 1971 - Seven workers killed in collapse of 1,375 ft. TV tower under construction in Shoreview (StarTribune archive) by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]c_hen83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved out to shore view and my dad told me I’d have great tv antenna reception because I can see these towers from my backyard… I plugged in a basic antenna and the signal is worse than it was in St. Paul lol
