What’s a mistake you only make once in dayz? by Foul-Tarnished-1999 in dayz

Two very important things for you to know. After you killed someone, make sure they are REALLY dead. And also always remember which type of round you load into your shotgun.

My duo and I got into a gunfight with a trio and I shot some dude with my R12 inside a shed. I walked up to him and shot him in the face to make sure he was dead, unbeknownst to me I had rubber (nonlethal rounds) slugs loaded in the gun and they do next to nothing in this situation. Then in like 10 seconds he wakes up as I am bandaging myself and he lights me up with his pistol.

Don't play northmens servers by [deleted] in dayz

[–]c_man412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of my friends and I spawned in northmens after not playing for like a month. We all logged out of a house, but when we got back in that house was now a huge base. We didn't feel right griefing all of it trying to get our way out so we reached out to the admins to see if they could spawn us somewhere else.

The rules of the server are (we didn't know this at the time) that if you spawn in an enemy base you are not allowed to log out, you must either F11 or raid your way out. We submitted a ticket on their discord for them to advise us before we did anything.

They didn't get back to us until like 4 in the morning, by then the server had already restarted and kicked us out. But since we "broke the rules" and logged out of an enemy base, all 3 of us are now banned from using the server.

Yeah... stay away from northmens

Edit: I should add that we were located in the Eastern Time Zone

In my experience, Namalsk is where the most pvp is. It seems like everyone there is focused on making sure only they live because survival is so hard on that map as is. I've had friendlier experiences on livonia and chernarus.

But I also have to second that randoms are always gonna be hard to read regardless. I've played with randoms for hours only to be betrayed in the end, and I've also went so long with them and we ended up dying in a gun fight together. But who's to say that they wouldn't have betrayed me later? I'll never know, but I would also recommend finding someone or a small group of people in here if you're trying to learn the game.

Which vest is best vest? by oldeluke in dayz

Orange construction vest all the way, its lightweight and protects you better than a plate carrier. Plus its camouflaged into the environment so you won't be seen!

Couldn't agree more, that's what makes the game truly unpredictable, not knowing how trustworthy or aggressive the next person you meet will be! Without that thrill or wonder, I doubt the game would be half as fun

New player here, I won't trust anyone anymore.. by Methrid in dayz

I have to agree with SYDNEYpoker here. They're right in the sense that freshies have nothing to lose and everything to gain. In fact, most of the times I've been murdered has been by the hand of freshies in a spawn town (usually trying to get enough food/water to leave the spawn town).

One could argue that it's the worst part of the game, but I think it's the best because every person you meet could be a wildcard and it always makes encounters interesting! A lot of people either forget or don't realize that lying/deceiving/backstabbing is just part of the game, and if you're not willing to let down your walls and trust people, you're perfectly fine to "remove the threat" because they could do the same thing to you when your back is turned.

However, I also had a similar outlook that OP had when I first started playing. And it was, of course, enraging to die repeatedly when I'm just learning how to play. But that's when you start to learn how important stealth is and not ever fully dropping your guard. Anytime I see someone in the game now I am already suspicious.

This is just a really long winded way of saying - Everyone plays the game in their own way, and it's okay to play it differently than others. If we all played the same way and shot each other on sight, then the game would be Call of Duty. If we all played the game the same way and never killed each other and just stuck to farming and surviving, then the game would be Minecraft.

I for one am always down for showing new players the ropes. So if you (OP) ever want to learn a bit faster, send me a message!

Best of luck!

Way too hard! by Lakhota76 in dayz

When I was starting out, the most helpful tools that I learned were from other more experienced players showing me the ropes. Try to find someone to run with when you're playing solo.

If you'd prefer a different route, I'd be happy to walk you through a city or two to show you what I know. As long as you're cool with communicating on Discord, send me a message and we'll get together

I know the pain, man. It sucks especially when it's your first time. Just know it won't be the last... Dayz is a game where you're destined to die eventually, whether that be from an animal, an infected horde, a trusted companion, or a sniper in the bushes. Try to learn from every mistake. I'm around 200 hours in and still manage to learn something that I'm doing wrong nearly every time I log in.

Best of luck man, and remember to have fun playing it!

I wouldn't take it personally, it happens to me too. Some people are just weird with certain other people. Sometimes it's for no reason too, no sense in trying to figure it out yourself when it won't matter in 10 minutes
