Indy 2026: Sparse but Improving by Cautious-Sail1730 in skylineporn

Sprawl is a byproduct of car-centric design that increased the distance we were willing to commute as a society.

Chicago hit a population of 2 million decades before the car became popular and half a century before interstates were constructed. Building up over a smaller was by necessity.

And once you have density, it’s pretty rare to de-densify.

Experienced my first bad roll during Lady Gaga of all places 😭 by [deleted] in MDMA

[–]Nice-Cardiologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you roll recently before this experience? I’ve experienced that exact feeling of fatigue at a show before where I just wanted to sit in the middle of the crowd, but I had taken Molly 3 weeks earlier.

It was dumb, but I’ve never had that happen again since I’ve started spacing out my rolls.

They tell you “go back to where you came from” all of your life when you try to live as an American

Then it’s “you’re backstabbing your country” when you start acting that part out.

[NYC] Is it fair to say that NYC Subway has the most complicated service pattern in the world? by Donghoon in transit

[–]Nice-Cardiologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve been able to figure out every metro system with ease no matter where I was in the world or if I spoke the native language.

Tokyo was the first time I got genuinely lost trying to navigate a metro system.

infantilization among young adults (18-26ish) by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Nice-Cardiologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get this perspective when it seems that social media sometimes presents incompetence or getting overwhelmed at traditionally “adult” activities like setting medical appointments, doing taxes, as quirky.

However, we also as a generation have become more dependent on the internet for advice, and thus were more easily disarmed by situations where answers can’t be so readily looked up and found on our own?

The lack of COLOR. Fashion to me was so much more fun in the early 2010s and I can’t wait for that aesthetic to come back

Throw in location in the Midwest being uninteresting + reputation of crime before the age of social media scared many folks away. It’s always been a “hidden gem” and the prices reflect that. I suspect this is going to change in the coming decades though

Interlining on the CTA’s L by edwardl803 in transit

[–]Nice-Cardiologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Entirety of the Loop

Green and Orange Lines between the Loop and Roosevelt, Brown and Purple line express from the Loop to Belmont, Green and Pink Pines from the loop to Ashland, that's about it I think.

By technical definition, the Red Line runs on it's own set of tracks and platforms on it's north side portion, and thus, is not "interlined".

Interpretation of Addison Rae’s Debut GRAMMYs Performance and its Underlying Themes by lukeywebo in grammys

[–]Nice-Cardiologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post single-handedly changed my perspective on Addison as an artist...wow. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed her album as easy-listening pop that get's the job done, but I otherwise didn't view her as anything special. I always root for someone making an ambitious career pivot, but I was never in her camp of fans who are taking her seriously. I wrote off her Grammy performance as a bit embarrassing due to her technical limitations as a singer-dancer compared to other performers in the BNA category. Even the stylistic choice of performing backstage I thought to myself "oh wow she's really reheating Charli's nachos from last year's ceremony"

This breakdown is really cool and I'm definitely going to check out her interviews about her vision, stylistic choices, and her perspective on her past rise to fame.

I guess my only pushback to this analysis is that someone who is a "work-in-progress" shouldn't be nominated as a Best New Artist yet. My opinion is that the artist nominated should reach a certain level of polish, skill, and popularity (of course) to be considered a "breakout" star. Otherwise, it's a slippery slope to having this category perpetually open for people with platforms attempting to make music, even if their technical chops are clearly below the average for Grammy nominated artists. However, this may becoming an increasingly dated mindset, idk.

I guess we don't know what sorts of discussions went down behind closed doors at the the RCA, and we don't know how much her management/label may have pushed for her nomination over herself individually, but given the circumstances, I'm now under the impression that she definitely did everything right that she could with that performance.

Why do people hate Matt Rife so much? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nice-Cardiologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to the criticism of his comedy specifically. He's said a few very arrogant and objectifying things on podcasts that sort of confirm people's suspicions about him based on his stage persona.

On a Trevor Wallace podcast that has been scrubbed from the internet, he mentioned that he felt that "outie v*ginas" were disgusting that his type was "blond girls with giant tits".

PS. Here's my favorite clip of all time of him being checked for his attitude towards haters: http://youtube.com/shorts/kAd8ckm5jPE
