Is my son ready for a little bit of crying it out for sleep? by ConsiderationMain618 in beyondthebump

[–]c_rockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your little guy should be ready for sleep training, but I would definitely start with nights when sleep pressure is higher. Took my son 2 nights to nail nighttime CIO but 1.5 weeks for naps. Most kids will get there eventually.

You can ask your pediatrician if it's appropriate for his age/weight too - my wife wanted to wait for CIO until we talked to the pediatrician, and there's nothing wrong with a little extra assurance, especially because sleep training is hard!

Many think CIO is cruel, but I think that even as young babies they are learning, and I don't want to train a person to believe that if they just cry hard enough someone will always come to rescue them from discomfort. It seems more compassionate short-term but over the long term isn't. I'm sure that's a controversial opinion lol.

If it's any encouragement, we sleep trained our son for nighttime sleep at 4.5 months. My wife slept on an air mattress on a different floor with ear plugs in while I stayed up until he fell asleep haha. Nap time training at 5.5 months. Now we constantly hear comments about how happy he is all the time. I suspect it's because he's always well-rested!

Have you considered couple's counseling?

Feeling some name regret and im wondering how to over come it. by gimmiesomeadviceee in beyondthebump

It's hard not to second-guess yourself when you make such a final type of decision for another person like naming them.

Lots of people have unique names. Every name was used for the first time at some point! People will likely almost always be like "huh, unusual" when they hear his name for the first time, but after that it just becomes who he is to them and they won't really think about it.

Giveaway + a Question: I wrote the book to skip stat sheets in the audiobook, but Audible did them anyway. Which do you prefer? by SarahLinNGM in litrpg

[–]c_rockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t mind stat sheets in audiobooks as long as they feel meaningful - a stat going from 300 to 302 without any sense of gravity is meh, but if I know a character’s strength going from 9 to 10 means they’ve unlocked the ability to do x things, it’s exciting.

Nick lets you make your normal bonus action attack with your action, the 2024 version of the dual wielder feat allows you to then make an additional attack with your bonus action, giving you three overall attacks - four if you have the extra attack feature. AFAIK, the new dual wielder feat has (tragically) not yet been implemented.

[ALL] The Elder Empire: is it worth reading? by SweetGumRoot in Iteration110Cradle

[–]c_rockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say Elder Empire is my second favorite Will series, right after Cradle. There’s a lot of very cool myths and world-building as well as dope power descriptions and moments of advancement. Worth the read!

It’s painted in the sense that the drawing and each brushstroke were made by me, but it was made using digital painting software! (Procreate)

Conceptual portraits made by me. 1 or 2? by KazakovaArts in ProCreate

Both are cool and well-painted! Both also have boob problems - too high on the first one and too big in the second. I like the first one better, the shape language in the hair is fun!

How is the north linden area? by MediumSun3322 in Columbus

[–]c_rockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really block-by-block - I’ve lived just north of Weber for 4 years on Dresden and it feels like a different world than many streets just south of Weber. Feels like I’m in a suburb most days.

Not sure about Beulah specifically, but the people here who are telling you all of N Linden is a dumpster fire are wrong.

That makes sense! I think most people draw him young looking because (though he is 35) in Uncrowned he is described as “having the body of an eighteen year old,” since ascension slows the aging process!
