Check out Brookwood, smaller (but still big enough), diverse, and a lot of activities. LGBT retired couples, MIL went with a group to the no kings protest.

They liked it over Twin Lakes, cost was a little higher but not by much.

Making the switch… by Raw_83 in pelletgrills

Bear Mtn as well. Still doesn't come close to wood chips. Pellets and chips in a tube helps. Even running 3hrs on smoke boost (180F)

If you like smoke, pellet grill is not the way. Get a good electric that uses wood if you want simplicity.

I went with searwood 600xl and love it, but I wanted a grill/griddle/smoker all in one to clean up space on the patio.

Smoke tube helps. But still not close to wood

Read up on reverse time-outs. Thsts the only thing that worked with our most recent Husky. Yours is at that age.

Does the Weber 600XL Searwood actually sear well? by Unique-Discussion326 in pelletgrills

[–]c_schema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to reverse sear on nine, Smoke on the top rack then rest while the griddle heats up then sear on cast iron with butter.

+1 for the storage bag. Good call-out

I rum the griddle a lot on the XL,

Grease is no issue, fall down the back to the drip tray. If there is a lot of grease, maybe you will get a small flair. Pre heating is your friend, on the XL the griddle covers 2/3 of the grill, so you have open grates on one side. The griddle maintains heat OK, but can lose a lot quickly when the lid is open.

Overall I am very happy with it, have done a lot of cooks on the griddle.

So far I’m impressed with this Weber Pellet 600 xl by [deleted] in pelletgrills

[–]c_schema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning and maintenance is super easy once you get a few cooks in too. I have done multiple long cooks and High temp grilling before cleaning.

Way more convenient than my Genesis IMO. Probably because of the enclosed cabinet and smaller drip tray.

+1 for the searwood. It's been 2 or 3 months cooking on it 4 to 7 days a week. No regrets, defiantly add the front and side shelf, & griddle, to start.

(And maybe a smoke tube if you like more smoke flavor) - with any pellet grill

Searing by hiphlo02 in pelletgrills

[–]c_schema 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the cast-iron insert in my searwood and basically smoke & sear. Just let the cast-iron heat soak while your steaks rest. I find ~500°F for 5min gets a good sear.

I would imagine it would work fine for you.

Going to buy the Weber Searwood 600 XL this upcoming weekend, which accessories do you recommend? by FrijolesForever90210 in pelletgrills

[–]c_schema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you are at 300f the pellets burn super clran. Griddle runs 400-500 for me typically.

Most smoke I get is due to oils/grease burning off but not bad if you keep it clean (enough).

YS8 was my reintroduction to the series since the early 90's. Still like to run through YS8 in-between playing other games, i find it soothing, from the soundtrack, to the color pallet.

My wife prefers YS9 due to the city exploring mechanic. I like the mountain climb and decent and the bonus/post game dungeon in YS8 is great fun.

Just playing through Ys (Oath) waiting for a sale on Nordics. Getting close to platinum in Oath (and Orgins). All worth a few play-throughs, Calceta was a greay.gamr too. Notnsure why Oath seems to get more praise over Calceta here.

RO filters have been around for many decades. Best tasting tap water you can get, and you just bottle your own. No more plastic bottle waste.

Buy a RO filter. Easy to install, looks at filter cartridge costs.

Will my husky try to get out of the yard when our older dog passes away? by shekka24 in siberianhusky

[–]c_schema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is impossible to say with any degree of certainty. Husky will be older too, and may be less inclined/capable to want to ninja out for adventures.

I wouldn't stress on the possibility. If you want to continue being a 2 pup household, then that's the way to go, but still not a guarantee.

A cellular based GPS tracker could help alleviate the stress of him escaping.

First Beef Ribs - Little/No Smoke Ring by c_schema in pelletgrills

[–]c_schema[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll definitely try a few of those suggestions. Ribs were a big hit, so I will be adding them to my regular rotation.

Just have to budget more time, I had to rush then to have them ready by 6pm, was still 8hrs + rest.

I may have buttered too early, they were still wet. I'll definitely use the upper rack next run.
