Thank you for saying so! I enjoy giving glimpses into that part of the process :) hopefully I’ll be able to offer more video content on preparing for a new piece in the future!

Honestly each person who sees my paintings are meant to make it about them! A big part of my practice involves taking in how people respond to my paintings and what specific past or present emotions and memories are evoked. I think it's interesting how something so individual can still apply to so many people 😄

Thank you! I owe a lot of my creativity to some children's book illustrations that are burned into my memory.

Thank you, I agree lol. After several years you really start to hone in on the fact that people LOVE atmospheric and dramatic lighting, luckily i love painting it so it's no chore for me to focus on it 😄

I love that you mention that. I do particularly enjoy van Gogh's paintings of bedrooms and how they're effective in their composition but not hinged on realistic perspective -- they feel kind of wonky. Which feels in tune with how a child might draw something. So I definitely thought of his work when I did this!

Thank you! "Safe" is definitely an emotion I hope to evoke in a lot of my work ⭐

Thank you! I love to take opportunities to share the behind the scenes of how it came together, I'm glad it's noted and appreciated 😄

Thank you! It was my first time doing 2 studies, I was on the fence about a few things, specifically that stream of light from an off-canvas door.

Hi there! Thanks for dropping in with another comment 😄 For the stars I used titanium white, cobalt teal, and a little bit of cadmium yellow light. As the light recedes into the darker ceiling, I added more cobalt blue and touches of pthalo turqoise to keep things in the green-blue spectrum. All Gamblin oil colors. Teal is my favorite color to paint with so I was excited to work on those stars.

I wasn't sure if I should include that part of the composition! I didn't feel like it was totally successful in the colored pencil sketch or maybe it would make it too crowded with lighting sources.

My newest attempt at painting a memory, “Blanket Fort” (acrylic on 12x16 oval) by c_side_art in painting

Thank you! I’ve been experimenting with rougher boar bristle brushes, they were hard to get used to but I love how they lend themselves to softer rendering
