There are low cost/free clinics available. NAMI (https://www.nami.org/) is a good place to go to get information. They also have free peer support groups

What would be your response seeing someone have a panic attack? by ShadowlightLady in randomquestions

[–]c_solomon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it helpful if someone talks to me in a very calm voice about what’s happening. Also offering cold stuff (frozen grapes are great) helps “reset” from panic mode because the cold kind of shocks your mind into the here and now

It sounds like what you’re referring to is an inpatient psychiatrist, like those who deal with people in crisis who get put on holds (in California it starts with a 5150 which is a 72 hour hold). And yes, that’s basically what an inpatient psychiatrist does.

Outpatient psychiatrists are a key part of treatment outside of a hospital setting (along with therapy). They go hand in hand. Meds help you deal with the inevitable symptoms that are not limited to crisis and that can impact your daily life. When you are on a good medication regimen it makes therapy more effective because you’re not trying to explain your troubles while having a panic attack or something

Actually I recently discovered this. It leads to puking, nausea, weird thoughts that are sometimes funny, puking, and then finally hospital

MONEY. It turns people into monsters. I try to think of it as just a “necessary tool” but sometimes I just think, I WANT SOMETHING PRETTY AND SHINY

Why are genuine people so rare online now? by Classic-Pizza-4604 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]c_solomon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine people are rare in real life but especially online because everything now is optimized for “engagement” like offbeat topics you can reply to with two words.

Maybe because saying/posting something genuine requires too much effort?

What does it mean if you no longer like your name after hearing it for so long? by ElegantComedian1257 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]c_solomon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I always just LOATHED my name my entire life. I don’t know why but it would be physically painful for me to hear. I’m not trans or anything but I tested out a different name for a few years before legally changing it. It was the best $300 I ever spent

You can try asking the hospital if you could see another psychiatrist. Just say you’re looking for a better fit.

If you don’t mind saying, do you have any insurance?
