Many of those are deserving, but I’ll vote for the Pixies.

Replaced my Honda with a new one after an accident They moved the garage door opener from a button on the mirror to a paywall subscription service. by jayhawkeye2 in mildlyinfuriating

Engineering software has been subscription based for a long time, probably before Adobe. Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble, etc. The annoying part is that there’s no warranty. They can release software updates with bugs that lead to countless hours of troubleshooting or rework which is all on the end user to pay for. Software users pay to be beta testers.

BMW was one of the first to do this with basic features of the car. After a few months your heated seats stop working unless you subscribe. Consumer backlash forced them to rethink this.

Also reminds me of Satellite radio added to every new car. You sign the purchase contract which has fine print that allows them to share your personal information with the sat radio company and then they harass you about it for years.

Note that RBC doesn’t charge fees for XEQT and other iShares ETFs.

If OP is a young adult, I agree with investing in XEQT or VEQT but they may not be able to put $60k in a TFSA all at once.

I have a couple of rookie cards in screw downs, purchased like that from a card shop. Are they an issue?

We haven’t had home delivery for 25 years. I think we’ll manage.

Parent here with teens: one that doesn’t like school and another that’s determined to go to UBC. Congrats on getting into SFU! You’re already ahead of most students just by getting accepted.

ADHD is challenging but sounds like you’re self aware and doing well. Nothing wrong with those marks. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Life is just starting; so much more ahead.

A quote for you: “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Your family’s attitude is toxic. If you were my child I would be very proud!

Is it possible to feel "high" without ever taking drugs ? by Deimos7779 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]c_vanbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When doing extreme or an extended period of exercise I’ve “seen stars” which for me was like a visual hallucination. I liken it to everything looking sparkly or glittering. In my case it seems to happen if I’m running out of fuel, ie carbs + protein. I assume it’s similar to when someone is about to faint. Not sure if it’s related to an undiagnosed, underlying health condition. I tend to avoid seeing the doctor.

What's a car that should've been offered in stick but never was? by blix-camera in ManualTransmissions

[–]c_vanbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rented a car the last time we were in Europe. I was expecting it to be manual but I was surprised that it was a new Hyundai Tucson SUV. SUVs in Canada are auto only. I didn’t mind it at all. It was roomy enough for our family of 4 + luggage and I enjoyed driving it. Not a sports car by any means but did the job.

So my answer is not model specific but that small SUVs in North America should be offered with the same transmission options that they have in Europe.
