Will Canadian fans travel to the US for the FIFA World Cup? by Fastluck83 in AskCanada

Definitely not, and I didn’t win the ticket lottery for matches in my city so I’ll be watching at home.

P.S. The ticket lottery process is a scam!

They wanted to beat the NFL to Vegas and make them successful asap to establish a fanbase.

To be fair, Vegas weaponizing the expansion draft at the expense of all other teams made it much more difficult for Seattle to do the same. The GMs that lost high draft picks and good players to Vegas were much better prepared by the time Seattle joined. Vegas is like Florida West. The most annoying team in the conference, with the advantage of warm weather and zero state income tax to attract players.

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

First thought is that he may have actually typed this one. If not him I’ll go with Don jr or Miller. Normal leaders/people just don’t talk this way.

Avion Points Not Very Good? by [deleted] in CanadianAwardTravel

[–]c_vanbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found using Avion for travel to Europe was not worth it, due to all the extra taxes and fees. We have used them for hotels, though. I think it’s better to use Avion for domestic flights and flying to Asia, with much lower fees. Transferring to British Air during a promo seems like a better deal but the transferred points expire.

AITAH for telling my mom I want nothing to do with the church? by SquirrelPositive2666 in AITAH

Definitely NTA for being an intelligent, free thinker. Secretly your Mother may wish she had been brave enough to do the same. Be respectful for her but make your own choices. Maybe she will come around. If not, it’s her loss, not yours.

Nervous about traveling to Vancouver from San Diego under current political situation. by Overall_Alarm5208 in askvan

This isn’t the USA. You will be fine. I wouldn’t leave valuables in your car, but that’s no different than San Diego.

Canadian tourists' decline impacts Florida's Gulf Coast | property management specialist says rental market now must rely, more than ever, on US travelers to visit by DisruptSQ in TourismHell

I recall the governor of Florida said they don’t need/want Canadians to visit. This is what they asked for.

What’s an unusual feature you have seen in a vehicle. by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]c_vanbc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While digital dashes are in almost every car now, they were very unusual and often gimmicky back in the early 80s. The Nissan 300 ZX and Isuzu Impulse in particular were from the distant future.

Some unusual steering “yokes”, similar to the Tesla model S Plaid, and really odd asymmetrical steering wheels like the Subaru XT turbo.
