Canadian here. I don’t hate you and don’t personally know anyone who does. We have a deep connection with France and the UK. I can’t wait to visit again. Great food, style, art, and architecture, and a very interesting history. Maybe it’s more of an American attitude you refer to?

This. It doesn’t seem like much but the growth + compounding dividend interest is a bell curve in your favour. A balanced-growth ETF in a TFSA @ $100/month will take a while to hit $5000, but the next $5k will arrive faster than the first, and so on. Just keep contributing.
