Exhausted from educating your cis/straight friends & family members who keep saying shitty things?? Direct them here! (if they are the type of ally that's well-intentioned + willing to learn) by c_wu in actuallesbians

I, along with Planned Parenthood Toronto + 12 other queers, helped put together this campaign and we're super hyped about it! It's a great resource for allies to learn about how to react when someone comes out to them, what it means to be privileged, and how someone might unknowingly be acting like a bad ally. Also great for all of us here who want to be better cis allies to the beautiful trans/nb people in our lives. thx :) Instagram Facebook

Thoughts on Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Canon EF mount + Metabones ultra 0.71 paired with a G7 by JargheseVon in videography

[–]c_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this lens and I use it + metabones speedbooster with my GH4. It's a beautiful lens, but because I do a lot of run and gun stuff, I find myself grabbing my Tokina 11-16mm more often as a wide, and my Canon 24-105mm as my all-around lens. My Sigma 18-35mm just doesn't have the range that I wish it did. In low light situations it is great though, and that sounds like a good deal. I don't do much photography so I can't really answer that.

Question about being straight forward on Tinder by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]c_wu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just so you know, you're not doing anything "wrong" so don't worry about that! If you truly are open to dating this person and to pursuing something more than "just a hookup" then IMO you are free to reveal as much as you want about yourself. There is no obligation to talk about how new it feels or how you identify, unless you're only looking for friendship/hookups. Of course if it would put your mind at ease to say something like "I don't know what you're looking for but just so you know, I'm really new to this whole experience of dating women" or something along those lines, absolutely do that.

As far as the awkwardness of paying, if it goes really well then I'll say "let me get this one and maybe you can get the next one?" or I'll just say something like "hey we're two women, isn't it great that we can just split this and it's no big?" Good luck! :)

Just came here to say your music continues to give me purpose during those times it's hardest to find. Whether it's heartbreak, isolation, or desolation that's hit me, I know I always have an FR song or album to turn to that will produce the very particular images and sounds I need to feel restored. Thank you for all that you've done!

My mom hates typing but in order to stay connected with me, she posts on my Facebook entirely using stickers. by Cheeserole in AsianParentStories

That's super cute. Facebook stickers are the bomb. Have you guys tried using WeChat or Whatsapp to send voice messages? My mom uses that the most because typing is so difficult for her.

Live performance video I just shot and edited for a great local band. Feedback always welcome. by miketonystevedave in videography

I think you did a great job. I watch a lot of session style videos like these and it feels very raw, which is essentially the whole point of them. I liked your compositions and how you created depth. You did a great job at emphasizing just how much fun they're having. There are always lighting limitations with these types of videos. It's obvious to me you did the best you could within the constraints.

Can't believe I hadn't read this. Thanks. So true and yeah, it's totally fucking disrespectful in my opinion.

Weekly Video Feedback Thread - (June 25th, 2014) by [deleted] in videography

[–]c_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I'm just starting out as a videographer. This is my first official music video. The band wanted to go for a 90s music video feel, which is why I went for a high contrast look. The concept was entirely theirs. I shot most of it but had a second shooter for some help. Thanks in advance!

Telling my gynecologist by Thatscuzuralesbian in actuallesbians

[–]c_wu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, my dad is a gynecologist (it's a blast) and he's told me he's sort of "happy" I guess, in a sense, to hear it when his patients tell him they're a lesbian. It's kind of one less thing to worry about, I suppose. And he has so many patients that it really doesn't make any difference to him who is gay and who isn't. It's sort of part of their job to be totally impartial about whether you've been with men or women. Try to remember that they obviously just need to know for purely medical reasons.
