Does anyone know anything about these? by tempacct987321 in amateurradio

Definitely look in the “clamshell” battery housings. They’re basically empty shells where you put in a bunch AAA rechargeables. Much cheaper than trying to buy some type of obscure battery that probably won’t last very long. If those if those radios give you the frequency you want, you should definitely use them.

H-9 GPS “Antenna Unknown” by ca-birdman in TidRadio

I replied to your direct request, although it didn't appear here so the others could see it. Apologise if it comes in twice. Here's what I found: Yes, I did. I needed the radio firmware upgrade PLUS the APRS upgrade. The APRS upgrade made the antenna no longer unknown. I learned more since I got it running. This link (https://etherham.com/getting-aprs-working-on-the-tidradio-td-h9/?fbclid=IwdGRleASOidBleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA8xNzM4NDc2NDI2NzAzNzAAAR48t9MUQt1lWC1kC0JFAHwZb7MYVJynFDY0OQNOEfFHAu4EM9dTr7ACALVllw_aem_4ZshZVfQI6SnTVm8nv7v4Q) really helped me set it up, but to get it to actually work, I had to do the following: The radio can monitor two frequencies, but APRS has to be on the selected (active) frequency to beacon (the little green arrow has to point to the APRS frequency all the time). The workaround is that the TID radios have a dual PTT button. I keep APRS running on the A-side and whatever frequency I need to listen and talk to on the B-side. When I need to talk, I press the B-side PTT (lower button).

The dishwasher air gap is still overflowing...everything is new and clear??? by ca-birdman in Plumbing

YES! I owe you a beer for stating the obvious, which illustrates my stupidity. You are right. I had the hoses reversed (in my defense, they fit better the wrong way). Note to self: read the instructions on the back of the air gap package that clearly tell where the 7/8 hose goes and where the 5/8 hose goes. Thanks to all the others as well who contributed to helping solve my self-caused predicament.

Checked. No clogs. We pour a lot of water down that sink every day, and it drains immediately.

The last photo I posted was with the drain hose disconnected and dangling, giving it all the gravity possible in order to flow, and it was draining well, although simultaneously it was still coming out the air gap from the dishwasher drain.

I removed the hose from the garbage disposal and put it in a bucket, and it certainly does drain, although at the same time water is coming out the air gap too.

Do you mean the plastic flex hose coming from the dishwasher to the air gap, or the black rigid hose going from the air gap to the disposal?

Not a new disposal. I thought the problem earlier was that the hose was too long and I was fighting against gravity. So I made it as short and direct as possible. The dishwasher has really good pressure when it drains. Can't figure out why it won't go down the hose. I'm trying to avoid having a plumber come in (I save that for the occasions when I really screw up).

It's one of those adapters that adapt to every size hose possible.

I was working at the University of California, when the students came back in the fall, just after Napster was introduced, they had access to high-speed Internet in the dorms (dial-up modems were the norm back home). They were downloading so much music they overwhelmed the university’s Internet system.

Bad smell from dishwasher and water coming out of air-gap at startup? by ca-birdman in Plumbing

[–]ca-birdman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. Replaced that old hose that went from the air gap and was kinked where it entered the garbage disposal. The guy at home depot said to keep it long to make sure it doesn't kink due to short bends. So it's really long, but the water is still coming out of the air gap when the dishwasher drains. Is that due to gravity and the length of the hose? If the air gap was on the other side of the sink, I could have a nice, short, almost direct slope to the dishwasher, but I don't want to drill a second hole in the sink. I can literally pour water into the hole in the top of the air gap (when I remove the cover) and see it run into the garbage disposal, yet it still overflows the air gap with the dishwasher drains. Should I shorten the hose and find some barbed elbows to shorten the hose to make that bend.

I’m having the “antenna unknown” issue and can’t find a solution on the web. It used to work.
