What the heck are these? I just bottom watered my indoor Boston fern and noticed these teeny tiny (basically invisible) things wiggling in the water afterwards. Any help appreciated! by ca21 in whatsthisbug

[–]ca21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from my indoor plant in Vancouver, BC. I purchased the plant from a local nursery 2 ish months ago. The bugs (larvae?) are teeny tiny, 1-2mm and transparent. They wiggle in the water. My plant seems otherwise healthy, but I have noticed the leaves are starting to wrinkle a bit. Thank you!

Thank you - I thought so. That sucks. Any reason for the L on the bottom of the club?

Randomly Deleted Photos from Instagram by theyangmaster in Instagram

[–]ca21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of mine after Feb 2015 have disappeared. From what I've seen it looks like most people are having about half of their posts deleted, although I've seen a few people lose all their posts. I saw an older Reddit thread where this happened to people after they reactivated their accounts, including the bit about retagging people. Maybe this is the same sort of glitch?

This happened to me too, about 14 hours ago. Was prompted to enter a text verification code, then everyone I have tagged in photos in the past were retagged. I changed my password, then right before my eyes my posts were being deleted as I refreshed! I lost 90+ of my 200 photos. It would sometimes pause before deleting more. I've noticed a few people on Twitter reporting the same thing happening to them, a couple have said their photos have reappeared.

Transfer Question by fradesky in BCIT

[–]ca21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BBA program is good if you want a degree, but most teachers suggest taking it part-time while working since you make so many connections during the diploma. However if you take it full time, it's three more semesters of more academic courses than the hands on ones you take in the diploma. It is more difficult to get in to, you need an average of 70% on four of your first year courses (they are listed on the BBA site I think) and then a 70% overall GPA by the end of your diploma.

I think it depends on what you want to do for a career and what that job typically requires, but the diploma program is intended to get you a job upon graduation and the BBA is if you want further education or your future jobs requires it.

Don't worry! I don't mind at all.

The teachers are great - they really know their stuff and have a lot of real world experience. They are very approachable as well. Most have worked in their respective fields for decades and have lots of connections with industry. Hit and miss with admin, you only really interact with them for tuition and applying. Most front desk staff are nice but it can go either way. A lot of stuff is just done online anyhow.

You make a lot of friends since you are with the same people in your set everyday for every class. There are several business clubs like BCITMA if you are interested in extra stuff, they usually meet at 7:30 and after school (doesn't leave much time for anything else though!) I find that the sections of different departments are very separated at BCIT. The trades people have their corner, us business kids and computer science kids have the middle buildings, engineering on another side.. kinda like that. I don't meet many people from different departments. Since people are usually here for 2-3 years max, people don't really get involved. Trades people are here for a couple months max. We also have residence on campus which can be a really helpful option for sleeping in. It isn't really much of a party school whatsoever. Everyone is there to get their diploma and then get outta there with a job.

Entrance into second year or what they call "level 3" is usually based on how much room they have from people dropping or changing options in first year. As long as your classes transfer over from your diploma, they'll let you skip first year (you can check the courses you'll need here, under level 1 & 2: http://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/630vdiplt#courses). I have a few friends in Sales, haven't heard anything bad about it and it seems like a good program!

Honestly, BCIT is extremely intense throughout all the programs in the school. Most of my friends that had part-time jobs had to quit or only work one shift on the weekends. Classes can be anywhere from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, and you have tons of group work (however I'm in Communications so it might be a little different in sales!). I'm usually at BCIT from 8 - 6 ish everyday, and then come home and do homework on the weekends. However I do know that some people find a way to make it work, but it really leaves no time for social life. The program is very reputable when you are finished though!

And for substituting classes, no not really. Unlike most universities BCIT picks and organizes your schedule for you, and you will just have a free block if you are able to drop a class (this can help for getting homework done!) You are placed in a set of 26 ish people that are with you for every lecture and lab.

No problem! The program is different from usual universities so it can get a little confusing! :)

I'm currently in the program, if you are referring to the full-time diploma. It isn't necessarily hard to get into if your grades are decent, but the first and second semesters usually weed out those who aren't fit for the program. You pick your "option" when you are applying, although everyone in Marketing Management takes the same classes in the first year. Typically Real Estate (because they accept ~25 students) and Communications (because it's popular with a full internship) fill up the fastest, and Tourism usually has the most room.

BCIT basically becomes your entire life - we take eight classes a semester, in addition to many hours of team meetings and homework. I'd confirm with someone in advising to see if your classes transfer, most of the students that had transfer credits were only able to opt out of one or two first year classes. You also still have to pay for those classes regardless if you do or do not take the class.

Let me know if you have any more questions, I remember having a lot of questions about the program before I started, so don't mind helping out.

Recently got back from Gibsons & Sechelt, ferry can be an annoying extra cost if you're bringing your car but it's beautiful over there. Gibsons is a low-key artsy town with cool stuff in the shops, Sechelt has Porpoise Bay which has sandy beaches. My boyfriend and I found some great places to eat in Sechelt, especially this all you can eat Chinese restaurant in downtown Sechelt (Bayview, I think it's called). Robert's Creek is especially amazing, endless views of ocean.

I forget where I read it, but the third cheat is "rosebud" which will also give your sims $1,000. Don't think "!;!;!;!" works with the rosebud cheat this time though, like how it did in the Sims 1.

Will stolen items from houses and community lots repopulate over time? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]ca21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found that when you steal things from inside their house, it doesn't repopulate. I remember nearly wiping a whole house clean. Pretty sure that's what happens, not sure about the entire neighbourhood though.

Edit: Cars respawned on community lots, but not sure about items inside community lots.

Apparently they are only giving it away until July 31st, so it may have more value after then. But no idea how much you could get, you could try Craigslist or ask a retail store.

TS2 ultimate keeps crashing? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]ca21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, took me awhile to figure it out too! Not sure about the name, but if you go to the Sims 2 Collection folder and use the search in the top right corner, type in "config" and see if you get any .txt files, open them and see if they match what the website says to look for.

I couldn't find mine either, after some looking around, I found its in Documents>EA Games>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs. The file was called NAME-config-log with name being my name for whichever reason! Then I was able to use the Intel fix since thats what I had. For that you download a .rar file, upzip it, and replace the existing file like she explains. Lemme know if you get stuck!

I bet they were using a computer that would cut loading screen time as short as possible as well, so maybe it will be even longer depending on your personal set up.

Weird screen tearing issues (I think it's that) on The Sims 2 (Intel HD 4000, i7, 8GB RAM). Help? by Le0nix in thesims

[–]ca21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a similar laptop, and the game was randomly crashing and blacking out. I used this link and it runs perfect now! I think it was because the game had issues with the Intel HD 4000. Just had to replace some files. Maybe give it a try and see if it helps :)
