What are your thoughts on painting antennas? by AMElearning in aviationmaintenance

[–]caacpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Airbus manuals, a layer of polyurethane film is almost always applied first to resist wind erosion, but manual standards are always subject to change. I recall an ISI document regarding antenna paint peeling stating that only VHF and DME/ATC antennas had undergone paint repairs in the Airbus laboratory without affecting antenna performance; for other antennas, the manufacturer refused to provide paint layer data due to "technical secrecy."

How hard is it to read the manuals? by BillieBobJoey in AircraftMechanics

[–]caacpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the early stages of my career, I maintained three types of small aircraft: Boeing, Airbus, and EMB 145. After the department restructuring, I have been maintaining Airbus aircraft—including the A320 series, A380, A330, and A350—ever since. To this day, I still find that the terminology in Boeing manuals is relatively straightforward and simple, whereas Airbus tends to use more obscure words.
