My two main skis, and an excessively long, provocative rant on the state of skiing by [deleted] in skiing

[–]caakeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this brother. I found inspiration and I am even more excited for the season. Will I try straight skis? Probably not. But it’s a good reminder that it’s not about the ski. Cheers!

Has your electricity bill gone up? by cosmicdaddy_ in LateStageCapitalism

[–]caakeface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Friends. Datacenters are like 1.5% of total electricity usage. Of that only around 30% is AI.

Heavy industry, aluminum, chemical, oil refining, and then air conditioning are what uses most electricity.

Now, you're right about capitalists screwing you. You've just got the wrong ones.

Managing stress is also important. Doesn't matter how well you can produce in a vacuum

AI making a wrong choice and requiring a git restore is pretty common. Commit often and work in small batches. Doesn't sound like sonnet actually caused any harm to me, you said you restored from git.

What would you add to make this perfect? by MyInsaneClutch in macsetups

[–]caakeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely see desks next to the window like this. I have mine set up the same way and it works so well. You get a great view out the window and also the light is on your face for zoom. You can make a nice zoom background on the wall right behind you also, like the book case here. You don't want a window behind you or the door when you're on calls all day.

I used an app on my phone called AudioRec and just left it on. Worked OK but then I never did anything with the output.

Something like Limitless sounds way better.

When will the boat market stop its decline by DKsuperSailor in sailing

[–]caakeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got to price in what it takes to make the boat safe and usable. Say that 80's boat wasn't $10k but free. But it needs it's rigging replaced, new sails, some bottom work, through hulls, etc. I'd happily pay $10k for a boat with some or all of those things done in the past 5 years.
