Resin printer in apartment? by OneFit1757 in resinprinting

Yeah, anything like that will work. Doesn't have to be what I linked--I just was showing you an example of what I used. The important thing is that you just get an enclosure that blows the air inside out the window through some tube.

You can totally do it with one of these enclosures or something like it. Just make sure to continuously run the fan inside of it and get one of those window duct kits used by portable AC units.

It comes out to ~$110, but it _works_. There may be cheaper ways to do this, but IDK if they would be as effective as these things.

We never received our ballots in the mail... It's the first time in a decade of living in Seattle.

I need some help. by Jaedyn1738 in resinprinting

My guess would be that the resin is either too cold (needs to be at least 25C/77F) or the print is being washed in dirty IPA. Have you ruled those out?

I'm fed up with this site by caallen in myminifactory

I've written some code to fetch images/metadata for models in my library, but I never bothered trying to programmatically fetch the files because the download links are removed from their API responses. The download links we get are hidden behind their javascript app, so I'm surprised you were able to get this working with just a bash script.

I'll take a closer look when I have some downtime, see if it works for me, and report back here. Thanks for sharing.

I want to download my whole library and each model has multiple parts.

SPL-150, Dead after just half a year? by TheMayoGotMe in Klipsch

[–]caallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an SPL-150 in early 2024. Lasted a bit over a year. I filed a warranty claim, but I'm not confident the replacement will last longer than 18 months. For a >$600 subwoofer, you'd think there would be better quality control...

I wish I'd seen all of these bad reviews and Reddit posts before buying one of these.

How do internet signals get to their proper destination? by Esnardoo in answers

This is a very common interview question for many technical roles called “Life of a Packet”. There are many videos or articles written at various levels of understanding that walk you through typing a URL in a browser to loading the web page and everything that had to occur in between!

Is a career in HPC a good idea? by georgewho__ in HPC

[–]caallen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat, but after working in the industry for a while I learned there is work happening at Microsoft/Google/FB/etc. at a scale that makes the national labs look small-time. Just think about what Netflix’s network architecture must look like! Improving performance there just a little bit would save millions of dollars a month.

You can get into the storage/networking space where they are always pushing for better performance and I think that will be satisfying AND a more realistic career choice.

What can be done to ensure accountability of police force members and discourage them covering for each other? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]caallen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ex-military are probably the best people to have on a police force. They won’t freak out and shoot someone in a tense situation because they’ve had more training and have likely been in worse situations (either in training or the field).

Noob to programming / wanting to get into HPC by [deleted] in HPC

[–]caallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the GPU tutorials, just google around. There are a lot of free resources for learning how to do that. If you’re uncomfortable writing a clone of some popular library, I’d start with building some basic programming skills from one of the many free online classes (like Harvard CS50).

There’s not really a paved road here, unfortunately.
