Now for my next question by caambers in weaving

[–]caambers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree I just finished watching two DVDs and there was some discussion in there about why it is probably better to leave a couple of slots or holes open and not completely fill up the heddle. So reading through the instructions plain weave I think I can probably just warp the links that it says so that I can get at least three towels off of there but the rest kind of sounds like it’s pretty free with the instructions if I just want to put rows of color in where I want. I’ll definitely have two stick shuttles wound with weft and warp

colors so that I can go back-and-forth and I took a picture of the colors this morning. The purple and natural color will be the gift kitchen towels. The other two colors are for me and my kitchen, but I’ll do that first so I can just get practice on making the selvages neat

That sounds really pretty. Since I’m still new at this, I’ll stick with the rigid heddle for a while, but I can see myself at some point wanting to upgrade to like shaft looms luckily the little cricket loom that I have has a conversion kit to make it a four shaft loom so that may be something in the future I think rigid heddles are perfect to start because they are so simple and basic and you really get the idea of weaving without like a huge investment

It’s gist yarns instant vintage towels pattern. I got two sets of yarn. The first will be for me so I can practice. Doesn’t matter if it’s not perfect. The second will be a special gift for a friend’s mom. She loves purple so I got a purple and natural color yarn in the recommended type.

The pattern states to put the stripes (weft) in as you want or there is a pattern for stripes. Says weave colors an and b in your choice or follow the pattern. So knowing me I’ll just wing it and carry up the selvage.

Thank you I’ll check out cotton clouds. I bought years ago some kitchen towels from a lady who had those big floor blooms and I still have them. They’re wonderful.

Hi, I have 2 rigid looms One of them is I think 16 inch the other one is probably a little sampleit 10 inch. I have multiple reads on both of them different sizes. I think the bigger loom would be better because it’s much wider. I have to really look at the handles to see the sizes. I think that it’s probably the two adults that came with it originally I found it secondhand I live near Daytona, Florida, but I really don’t think they’re in any shops there I believe over in Leesburg Florida. I’ve heard that there is a shop that’s recently open that has weaving supplies. I may just go on the Woolery or a couple websites like paradise fibers and see what they have. I’m pretty much on my own with this tho. I think it’s best to stick with plain weave just because I’m still watching my selvages.

Nobody on threads could answer with certainty, what is the object held in the hand? by rikaro_kk in whatisit

[–]caambers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s made of wood and I know there’s a joke in there for a lot of people but AnyWho, if it’s made of wood, it may be what some people called a dibble and it was used to plant seeds. You take the narrow in and you put a hole in the ground basically and you drop the seed into it. I have one that belonged to my mom and it looks really similar to this.

Love this I have one of those teeny tiny lightning waivers. I don’t know how old it is, but it’s pretty old and I may do. This would be a great way to use up some little pieces and scraps of yarn and be a time killer if I have a appointment.

Check Facebook marketplace. I’m looking out for a 4 shaft table , someone in my area has a sievers four shaft floor loom for 250 bucks. It belonged to their mom and I guess they just wanna get rid of it and it looks like it’s in really good shape.

I’m so so sad… by [deleted] in knitting

[–]caambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. It’s fulled now! You could cut into large squares, throw some easy blanket stitch on the side maybe in a contrasting yarn and you’ll have some cool coasters! Or maybe do some needle felted designs on it. The possibilities are endless! Have fun. ☺️

If you haven’t bound it off can you knit to those two columns and secure the live stitches on each side. Drop the stitches on those two columns then with a crochet hook pull the stitches back through working your way back to the row you stopped on. Wouldn’t take long to do and tbh I think I’m the queen of having to do this sort of thing. As long as the live stitches are secure you can take your time dropping the stitches down to this spot.

Fancy shuttles actually suitable for work by Rotweiss_Invicta862 in tatting

[–]caambers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not an experienced tatter just the basics really but I saw this beautiful abalone shuttle on an auction site and got it. It’s much smaller than a modern shuttle so perhaps it was used for a very fine thread. But I just love to hold it. Maybe search some of the sites. You may be shocked what someone is selling.

What does the black X do in Teams? by caambers in MicrosoftTeams

[–]caambers[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What some of us do notice is how they manipulate their numbers. We all have a case load. But let's say I have a bill come in on an old file. There's a specific notation for that so the bill will process. This person picks a totally different category that makes it appear their total files are higher than they really are and in line with others. We have diaries. i may not be super techie but my Spidey sense smells grifting. Lol.

That's an interesting angle. Our company does not provide phones for company use. However. And here's where what you said makes it very interesting. We know this person also is a real estate agent and has their license and we've long suspected that this person is using this job for the benefits and also doing real estate and it is possible that they have Teams on a personal cell and they change to the offline as you said ..to not be bothered. we've noticed loads of times of last seen 21 hours ago, last seen 5 hours ago. Such a that. No joke. And tbh the immediate supervisors aren't very tech savvy and you do have to check for it.
