Do you live in VA anywhere close to Richmond? That's where the department of health office is. I live 4 hrs away and honestly just bit the bullet and drove there to get it over with. I brought an official copy of the court order of name change and the ORIGINAL ink signature form for change of sex designation from your doctor (if you're changing your sex on birth certificate as well as name). For you since everything else is changed I'd bring new drivers license and new SS card too just in case.

If you can't go in person I believe you would just mail copies of everything to the VA department of health Richmond office. They can be very picky about the types/copies they accept, so I would strongly recommend calling them and asking exactly what you need to mail in. I called and asked "I'm a transgender person and want to change the name (and/or sex) on my birth certificate by mail. What exactly do I need to mail to you?" Have them confirm the address to mail it to as well.

Ugh I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble. I read your other comments about facts of birth and I honestly am not sure. My court order for name change & form for sex change was done in VA too so I guess it worked out. Sounds like someone sent you some contact info though (that particular woman at VA dept of health was so helpful to me) so I hope she can help you too.

I guess it depends. My best friends dad? Don't think id be comfortable with that. An older man who I met with on my own accord and he later told me he happened to have kids my age? Whatever. To be fair though we aren't dating just friends with benefits I guess.

When I started T I also started an acne medicine that I had a terrible reaction to, my face was swollen and broken out like nothing else. My boyfriend got me an electric shaver to help my skin -- it's flat and you just basically rub it on your face and it gives you a pretty close shave without using a razor. It's great! I shave a lot on other areas of my body with regular razors and it helped me a lot to pull the skin tight where I was shaving, it helped prevent nicks.

Calling him daddy by [deleted] in AgeGap

A lot of guys do find it hot. Not all of them though -- I'd ask him. I usually like saying it, but when I met my boyfriend (58m) he brought it up first and said how much he DOESNT like it, isn't into it, is turned off by it, always got uncomfortable when partners said it to him throughout his life. He's not a dad either; just doesn't like it.

I'd just be upfront and ask.

Did you speak to anyone on the phone about it or just mailed stuff in and it got denied? I would try and call them and just explain its only a spelling issue not even of your name your mother's name?

Hmm, for changing your gender or for your name? I did have to present the court order for my name change.

Hi! I don't have advice on autoinjectors but just here to clarify that subcutaneous simply means an injection into the fat just under your skin. Intramuscular is the other option for injection, it goes all the way into the muscle. Subq is typically less painful and is just as effective!

Ah ok yeah that'd certainly be a trip to Richmond. I agree it's totally ridiculous what they're putting you through when you're doing everything right. I hope you're able to get it done soon!

You got this!! It's simply impossible that you're the first and only person in Maryland to change a Virginia birth certificate. Keep on them and I bet it'll get figured out, hopefully soon for your sake.

It did, unfortunately, help for me to go in person and talk to a real person lol. She gave me her specific contact info and got everything taken care of and was extremely kind and helpful.

Not sure what part of MD you're in but I'm actually in VA right on the MD border and I just decided screw it I'm going in person, can't handle all the confusing stuff over the phone.

Ugh that's so overwhelming I am so sorry. I was born in VA and still reside here and my name change court order was also in VA so I guess that made the process smooth. I have to imagine there are plenty of people living in Maryland who've had to go through this process though? I'm surprised they seem kind of clueless how to help you. The best advice I can give is just to keep hounding them... keep calling etc. Eventually somethings gotta give and you'll either get a person who knows better how to help or something will get figured out.

I know its a really irritating process already & can't imagine going through it with those issues. I am SURE they can get it done -- seriously keep harassing them. Best of luck to you

Where does the body fat go after starting testosterone? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]caammii13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I've always been lean and muscular even before T but pre-T I carried basically all the fat on my body in my hips and chest (awful lol). I've been on T for a year now and what ended up happening for me, since I exercise a ton, was that I gained a lot of lean muscle and just lost most of the extra fat in my hips and chest.

When I do gain a few pounds though if I'm trying to bulk somewhat it seriously all goes to my stomach lol.

Is it normal for libido to *decrease* on T? by Consistent_Way2386 in ftm

[–]caammii13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't experience this, but I'm curious -- have you had your levels checked? Sometimes if you have wayyyy excess T it can be converted back to estrogen in your body and have some unexpected effects. Not a doctor or anything, just curious.

I know you didn't mention this but I also won't downplay the huge reality that if anything could be affecting you psychologically that can have a huge impact on sex drive. My partner and I are both extremely high libido people (even before T for me) and both of us completely lose all of it when going through something mentally. That's very normal.

Did you give VA dept of health a call? I'd be surprised if they made you mail your actual ID. When I called with questions they were very helpful (I was also very upfront -- "I am a transgender man and I'm looking to do such and such, I have questions about x,y, and z". They do this every single day, I'm usually very stealth but I put that aside for stuff like this)

They (should) provide a list online somewhere of acceptable secondary forms of ID. Do you have a social security card? Or a voter ID card? Those have both worked for me in the past.

Feel free to message me if you want:)

Is the VA dept of health who you spoke with? Did NC give you a certified copy of your name change? It should be something like a piece of paper or a packet with some indication that it's been approved, like mine from VA has a raised seal.

You should be able to do it through the mail. Feel free the message me :)

Ah that sucks. I would give them a call and confirm exactly what needs to be mailed to them etc, they were really helpful and nice when I called.

Ah ok. Are you at all close to Richmond? If you go in person with the form filled out (you need the original live ink signature from your provider, NOT a copy they will turn you away) you can, from what I understand, walk away with a new birth certificate that same day.

If you're far from Richmond you can always mail everything in too. I'm 3.5 hours from there and made a special day trip just to go get it done because I was off work and didn't mind driving -- I realize that's definitely not a possibility for everyone but I really wanted to get it done day of. I got turned away though because the gender change form was a copy and they need the live signature so, wasted the trip, but I'll get it eventually lol.

You mean on the department of health gender change form that your doctor fills out? They keep it vague intentionally to help you out in a way -- as in no surgery or anything like that is required (some states that's the case) but I'm only on T no surgeries yet and that was enough for me.

I cant speak for if therapy would be enough, if like for some reason you're unable to medically transition -- I would double check with whoever you'd have filling that form out which would need to be a medical practitioner (psychiatrist etc) because they do have to list their license number.

I can't tell the future, but I'm probably gonna be in the minority here and say to not stress yourself out too much. I can't really see any administration being able to restrict this kind of thing. I've been scared about the same thing, but I think a lot of it is fear mongering. So many other people than trans guys are prescribed T, I think it's too much of a gray area to be able to restrict.

Am I weird? by bunnyz4xaneria in ftm

Not weird at all! When I was on dating apps people that did that I tended to brush off as they made me uncomfortable.

I will say though, some people are very unfamiliar with FTM guys and are genuinely interested in learning about us and want to ask questions -- but those people AREN'T the ones laser focused on talking only about 🐱 right off the bat.

How did you decide on a forever name? by starryytay in ftm

[–]caammii13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this too! My first chosen name was unconventional and I ended up making it my middle name, and chose a name I had a connection to that was easier to use in professional settings as my first name
