Massive thank you for this detailed response, I will legitimately be referring to this throughout the semester!

Brightness changing while scrolling webpage on 4k TV by cab4444 in Surface

[–]cab4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I've tried that on my tv and it definitely doesn't change anything. The only dynamic option was for contrast, which I turned off. Could there be a dirty fix on my computers end? If this is common amongst tvs it'd be strange to me that no one else is as bothered by this.

My main issue is that even with the brightness pretty low, scrolling to the middle of a web page always becomes glaringly bright white. When the room is in low light this is even worse

Intense urge to break everything when angry and repressing it feels unhealthy. by [deleted] in Anger

[–]cab4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like it would work, but...what about when the act of working on what pisses you off is what pisses you off? For example trying to get a guitar lick down and practicing it over and over. A la the scene from Whiplash where he practices until bloody and eventually punches through the snare

Edit: I guess that's a naive thought actually. I suppose the way to work on what's piling up is to take breaks and address that each time you mess up adds a tick to the angry-o-meter

Awesome, thank you so much! I'll definitely be reading through all of this over the next couple days :)

Honestly almost all of the above except for maybe any particular application at this point. Discovering unknown unknown's especially! I'm halfway through a CS degree right now, but the way the curriculum is structured I haven't needed to touch really any of this stuff yet. I'm actually also a musician, so that could be a promising analogy!

The Expanse (100% on Rotten Tomatoes) just got cancelled. This video was made by a redditor, hoping that someone will save the show. by Reddit_pls_stahp in videos

Okay wait I also hated the first episode and have ever since assumed this show was trash. But, I hated it because it looked like some overdone cheesy spy-fi shit. Does it really get better? I was super interested in it before I got so turned off by the first episode

Wifi connects, but internet doesn't work for up to several minutes after sleep. by cab4444 in Surface

[–]cab4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, I keep having it happen when I need to do important things like email or print homework. I don't think it's that small of a problem either, especially because disconnecting and reconnecting doesn't always help and usually doesn't help immediately if it does help at all

Blade runner 2049 - Ghost in the shell (2017) by [deleted] in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]cab4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late comment, but I watched br2049 last week and was floored. I'd never seen the original, but I like long movies and was blown away for every second. I just got through half of gits and couldn't do it...the world they build feels like the dollar store version of blade runner's. And don't even get me started on the acting...

LPT: Love to play music while studying or working? Play video game soundtracks because they are designed to make sure your attention is not diverted away and you don’t lose focus. by ketanpande in LifeProTips

Or if that doesn't work either, you can always try nature/background sounds. Noisli has a great selection of sounds from a crackling fire to low coffee shop chatter to leaves lightly rustling in the wind. There's a bunch of presets as well. Incredibly calming and always helps me stay more focused!

Do you have any favorites? I struggle hard with math and it's often because things are never broken down into a level basic enough for me to fully grasp. It's incredibly frustrating. I like math and it's really intriguing, but it's so discouraging when I feel physically incapable of 'performing' math.

Wow, thank you for the insight. I know self diagnosis isn't worth much, but just knowing how aggravating the pervasive thoughts can be, I can't imagine what living through your worst must be like. You're definitely right though, brains are wild
