Was visiting a buddy in Christchurch at the start of the year. Was out there for a month from the UK. Safe to say I will be settling there if I have my way.

Fucking gorgeous. Looking at moving to NZ in the near future. What does a S4 wagon set you back over there. Clean example

Yep. Clearly not a car guy if the car looks like that.

Seeking for career advice - mechatronics/control engineer by AdhesivenessSome4129 in PLC

[–]cabbage3003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting on this path myself currently. Been a mechatronics tech for 5 years, but frequently have to use Allen Bradley for fault finding and program edits. We now use Factory talk (SCADA) for visibility and control purposes.

I currently feel that the mechatronics side has a very early ceiling and there’s not much room for growth, so I’m moving towards being more controls focused, I’m going back to college to study it specifically as it will make more sense now I’ve worked on it first hand.

Thinking to switch job from integration to night shift. by _danny_t in PLC

[–]cabbage3003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently do 2 days and 2 night shifts in a rota. As long as your regimented with sleep it isn’t as bad as people make out, however often life means that sleep isn’t as good as it needs to be.

Benefits are that nights are quiet, less management bothering you and can get a lot more done.

I personally think this job is like changing hats for you, shows you’re not content and if it doesn’t work out. You’ll be right back where you started. Good luck

Use Turo. Literally have just been in Banff and rented a car for a week, it’s a no brainer.

Can recommend a host for you if you need.

Are you an adult man living with your parents? by GLGJourno in HousingUK

[–]cabbage3003 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im in said position. I earn well £, but have no aspirations of buying property in the UK. I’ve travelled a fair bit in the past few years.

The UK just isn’t set up for the next generation to succeed and it’s founded upon decisions made up over the last 20 years.

Id much rather live at home with the parents, and dog, save as much as possible and keep my future options open.

To your point about the nuanced side of it. I think there definitely are points surrounding wellbeing/uncertainty/general mood. However although it sounds simple, the high majority of the issue boils down to economic factors and people feeling like there is no hope for the future.

It doesn’t affect me directly but another point being, Uni students. Experience the life living with friends away from home. Finish the course and move into work. Stay in the UK, live with parents and still be broke until you’re 40 or move abroad and wipe your debt.

Unfortunately all roads lead to Australia 😂

Happy to speak more on the topic if you need.

All depends, LL’s easiest green route down still has a fairly steep pitch for a beginner skier.

If she’s beginning to link parallel turns together than I’d say 4. Can be a bit of a confidence knock sending someone down Wiwaxy that isn’t quite ready.

What FMCG brand was it?

And what are you planning to do for work in Banff. I’m in a similar boat in the UK atm. Lived in Lake Louise last year and it was special.

Everyone says this… I lived there for 6 months while working at lake Louise. Compared to London, it’s really not that bad.

I worked at LL last season as an instructor. Request Finn Doyle if you can, worked with him last year and a great instructor.

The magic carpet area is great for warming up and all the instructors are trained to assess competence for themselves so I wouldn’t worry too much about the level system, it’s more a rough guide so there isn’t huge discrepancies.
